My husband and I took our little toddler to stay at this hotel for New Years Eve along with a number of his extended family. We only usually stay in 5 Star accommodation so were a little apprehensive about a 3 Star hotel. We arrived in the afternoon and had drinks in reception. We found our room to be very pleasant with a nice view over the harbour, roomy and clean and the bed was extremely comfortable. They are dated but they had everything needed; a nice big comfy bed, TV, hairdryer, powerful ensuite shower and dressing table. At 7pm we gathered for the nights entertainment; a buffet dinner - the tables were decorated wondefully with crackers, balloons and small gifts and the dinner consisted of a mix of Indian, Chinese and English dishes. All very yummy and plentiful - you could consume as much as you desired. Once the food was cleared, the dancing begun and the DJ was great. The evening culminated in a 10 minute firework display. After a good nights sleep, we met for breakfast which again was a buffet consisting of cereals, pastries, juices, tea, coffee, toast and a full English breakfast. Absolutely delicious - I could have easily consumed a great deal more than I did but...New Year resolutions and all that!! The whole break was very very reasonably priced and although it is not the Ritz, it was very pleasant, clean and comfortable and we have booked to go back next year. Rye town itself holds many dear childhood memories for me so we enjoyed a wonderful walk through the cobbled streets before jumping back in the car and heading home.
