“Warm and welcoming”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

We stayed in Rye for a weekend and found the Ship Inn online. It has a great atmosphere, the best breakfast I have ever had and the managers and staff were so friendly and welcoming but also discreet. The rooms were bright, comfortable (although the bed was slightly firmer than i'm used to) and had lots of little quirky touches as did the pub and restaurant downstairs. This made it such a unique place and one where we hope to return soon. We didn't eat in the pub but wished we had as the menu (although small) looked delicious and they also had a function room upstairs which looked so pretty for a 40th party when we were there. The road outside was a little noisy but it didn't detract from the lovely location, lovely hotel/pub, lovely town and lovely people.

This was our 4th stay at The Ship Inn (which speaks volumes) and this time we came to celebrate New Year, We stayed for 2 nights, we were originally in room 6 (but when we mentioned to Theo that we found it very hot in there, he mentioned that the next day other rooms were free and kindly offered us to switch rooms, which we did). The rooms are very comfortable with a good water pressure in the shower. The food is delicious and the pub has a lovely relaxed and welcoming quality. We will be back again, hopefully soon, thanks Theo and Lisa.

“Chilled unpretentious quality”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 December 2011 via mobile

Stayed for two nights early December. Delightful old pub done up but without any of the usual cliched add-ons. Very laid back atmosphere, great low volume mood music with staff fully attentive to needs. Rooms basic but clean and comfy. Great location in this super little town. Food a real surprise - good wholesome quality reasonable prices. An ace place. Well worth the visit.

“ok but not worth the money”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 November 2011

booked a couple of nights but only stayed for one. The top room was a bit chilly, basic with a hard bed, The bath was chipped and furnishings well worn. Lovely breakfast but all in all not worth £100 per night.

“Great breakfast, small double bed”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 October 2011

Stayed for one night at The Ship Inn. The room was nice, a small double bed. The pub is quite nice, except that my wife who was waiting for me in the pub was told that eating food that wasn't bought in the pub was not allowed, and this argument only for an vegetable. Trouble sleeping, strong winds caused the windows to shake. The breakfast next morning was wonderful, freshly pressed orangejuice and grapefruitjuice, great cooked breakfast, very friendly staff.
