“A little gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

Excellent, clean, warm and cosy. Delicious breakfast including home made muesli, yoghurt's, proper coffee and well cooked eggs etc., The dining room is like home from home with wooden floors, squashy sofa, comfortable dining chairs and restful decor with walls adorned with lovely paintings. Ian is the charming and delightful proprietor. Our room was smallish but had a comfortable double bed, plenty of storage, good lighting, a kettle, en-suite shower room so clean and joy of joys and so uncommon in England ( I can say that since I'm English) really good plumbing! Warmth provided by excellent radiator with thermostat and by the way this was the coldest night of the year, too. Only gripe was that we were woken several times by an alarm from 'Bailey's' bar opposite. We will definitely go again. Well done, Ian, you have a real gem!

Room Tip: Our ground floor room was noisy with cars revving engines outside and alarm going off at 'Bailey...

“Solid 4 Star B and B”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2012

A good example of a small town B and B at this rating level. Friendly owner, well decorated room, small shower room and a satisfactory breakfast. Good value at £75.Rye itself is a lovely place.
Would have no problem staying here again.

“Who Could Ask For More”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

This is the third visit to Rye that my wife and I have made and the first staying at this particular hotel. For some reason a lot of the hotels in Rye were full this weekend, so there wasn't a great deal of choice available. So I picked what I thought was the best of the bunch. And I was proved right. We had a wonderful stay. There was a real log fire in the reception area, which was very welcoming after a long drive from Nottingham. Mine host showed us to our room (No 5) in a very relaxed and friendly style. Almost like we were family, rather than paying guests. He handed us an up to date map of Rye and gave me the low low down on the popular restaurants in the town. In the end we got some fish and chips from Marino's on The Mint (very good too) and ate them in our room. Despite the building being several hundred years old, the inside looks very modern and tastefully decorated. But without losing any of the historic character. We had quite a good nights sleep and we both enjoyed our breakfasts, which are freshly prepared and use locally sourced ingredients where available. I have no qualms about fully endorsing this hotel as a great place to stay whilst exploring the quaint and historic East Sussex town. I don't think even the people who appear on the TV series "Three in a Bed" could find fault here.

Room Tip: I think they are all good

“old borough arms”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 January 2012

My husband and i spent 2 nights at the old borough arms in Rye and could not fault it at all.
The room was lovely and clean, breakfast was the best. Ian could not do enough for us. He made us very welcome and special.

“What a Deal!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 January 2012

The evening before our arrival a friend and myself booked a room in the Old Borough Arms for 2 nights and got the amazing deal of £75.00!! We arrived the next day to a friendly check-in who helped us to our room. The inn is in a fantastic location, right at the foot of Mermaid St., and a close walk to everything.

The only downside is the thin doors, it didn't bother us, as we are not light sleepers, but I could see it bothering someone else as you can hear everything in the hallways.

Overall a great stay, and we will definitely be back again!

Room Tip: We were in room 8, which was nice, new and comfortable, although it is next to the driveway, and cer...
