“Great welcome in an individual hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 January 2012

This is the second time that my wife and I have stayed at Jeake's. Both times we have been impressed by the quality of the service and the generally welcoming ambience. A guaranteed parking spot, albeit away from the hotel is a bonus. The setting, on a cobbled street in the old town is ideal. Jenny and Richard know how to make their clients feel at home. We look forward to further visits to this gem.

Room Tip: Phone the hotel and discuss requirements. Because it is two/three ancient buildings linked together...

“You deserve it”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 January 2012

Jenny & Richard welcome you when you first arrive, and it is personal all the way; one of them is always there to take breakfast orders and to have a morning chat.

The room (we stayed in one of the named suites) was just beautiful and housekeeping was exceptional. The location is so perfect for an old town like Rye, and it is handy to everywhere.

If you're going to Rye, stay here - you deserve it.

Room Tip: It is on an traffic free road, so any room is good. The higher up the room the better the view, but...

“Sharp practice over booking fees”

Unfortunately my partner and I have been denied the opportunity to stay at this hotel by very hostile bookoing condtions that other travellers should be aware of. The owners charge a £25 deposit when reservations are made, but they are extrememly inflexible if the trip has to be postponed. My partner and then myself were unable to travel due to unpredictable attacks of flu in January and were told that we could not defer the visit to Jeake's House to a later date and our deposit was withheld. We are investigating the legality of this situation but would advise others to scan the terms and conditions which are sent out when a reservation is confirmed as the owners insist this constitutes a contract. Whatever the advice from Trading standards turns out to be, there is little goodwill from the proprietors and in our opinion this is the use of SHARP PRACTICE

So sorry you felt we were inflexible and hostile. Following your cancellation the first time, I held your deposit over so that you could re-book. I did this again when you cancelled for the second time. When you cancelled for the third time it was not possible to re-book you. I might also add that I was unable to re-let your room on either occasion.

“Expensive, but worth it.”

Lovely building, fantastic room, very comfy bed, friendly owners and staff and breakfast was great.

Location in Rye is perfect. We came by train (5-6 minutes stroll from the station to Mermaid Street) so didnt have to pay the extra for parking the car or navigate the tight roads of Rye, this might be a issue for some, but a minor one.

Its premium price accomodation but its just what you want if you are paying these prices.

Couldnt fault it and there is a lot to recommend Jeake's House and I would to anyone who is looking for a special location for a short break.

“Very pleasant small hotel B&B”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 December 2011

Very pleasant small hotel B&B, very friendly helpful staff, everything worked, free Wi-Fi, great breakfasts, not just the standard “Full English” but nice range to choose from.
It’s up a cobbled street, so once you've checked in you’ll have to park a few mins away. Being an old building its rooms are compact though well equipped. But you’re in the centre of historic Rye with all the shops, places of interest, pubs and restaurants it has to offer.

Would definitely go back
