“A very pleasant couple of days”

This is a well appointed, coordinated hotel. The staff were all very helpful and friendly and the room was clean and well decorated. The 'full' breakfast was excellent and kept us going until dinner in the evening. One evening we ate at Webb's a fish restaurant - a lovely meal. We chose this hotel because it had a pool and its own parking. The pool was cool but fine once one started to swim!

“Lovely hotel, freezing pool”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 October 2011

Just returned from two nights at the Rye Lodge. Lovely quaint olde world hotel which suits Rye very well. Situated in the centre of town so no reason to move the car from the hotel car park. Breakfast was excellent and staff very friendly, although the chap serving afternoon tea seemed rather flustered and a little on the Basil Fawlty side. "you'll have to wait, I'm already serving someone".
Only serious criticism is the leisure facility. The swimming pool was probably the coldest I've ever been in, although I bravely swam for 20 minutes before giving up and escaping to a hot shower. The spa bath and treadmill didn't work properly, and the exercise bike not at all. Sauna was nice though.

We are pleased that Shemat enjoyed staying at Rye Lodge, and apologize for their wait for their afternoon tea. We are grateful for visitors' comments so we can identify areas for improvement.

The temperature of the pool on the 23rd October was checked (as we regularly do) and was 82º. We try to aim for a temperature that suits both guests who wish to swim and those who wish to relax. The spa bath has a manual start button. We will check to see if this is not obvious enough to future guests. The exercise equipment is checked regularly - we regret that this guest experienced problems - reception would have been pleased to assist if notified at the time. It is currently in working order.
We are glad that Shemat found our staff friendly - we feel it is something that sets the hotel apart - and hope that we might have the pleasure of their company again soon.

“A very nice place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 October 2011

have just had three delightful days at the rye lodge. as the receptionist said "the champagne room has a bathroom to die for". Loved the attention to detail, from the crockery to the umbrellas. Local restaurants are great though beware the the cost of the Mermaid . Staff at the hotel are efficient and friendly.

“Norma & Alan”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 October 2011

This was a special trip, following our wedding. We booked a 2 night deal which included breakfast (beautifully served & hot), dinner booked for us at two different restaurants, transport there and an afternoon trip to wherever we chose in the hotel's Rolls Royce. We chose our room by looking on the hotel's website, and although the decor had changed colour we were not disappointed. Our room looked out to the front, lovely view - only minor complaint would be the cobwebs on the side window! The whole hotel was full of character, the staff were very pleasant and helpful, and the location was so convenient. We would hope to return.

Room Tip: Having read other reviews about cramped rooms, I would do my homework before booking. We had a love...
