“Excellent location, but very basic.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 June 2011

We stayed begin june in the Regent Motel in Rye. The location is excellent, and provides very precious parkings spaces. We were a bit worried, because we could only see a few spaces, but we did not have any problems. The hotel is very basic and outdated. No breakfast and nobody at the reception in the evening or once the hotel is full. If there should be a problem you have to call an emergency number. The person next to us had no towels. She called the number and left a message on the answering machine. Little time later sombody came with her towels.
We found it clean when we arrived, but we stayed two nights and nobody came to clean up the room or to change the towels.
It is certainly no fancy hotel and a bit creepy, but it has a good price, very good location and parking spaces. Would we stay there again? I don't know, depends on the budget.

“5 minutes from train station, simple, clean and perfect for one night”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 July 2010

Stayed one night with my wife on Friday 2 July 2010. Travelled from London by train, via Ashford, after finishing work. Reception closes at 6pm but hotel confirmed by phone and email (very quick with replies) that it would be okay to pick-up keys at 7pm (and just to call if we would be arriving later and receptionist would stay on). Room was clean and more spacious than I expected, Ensuite/ walk-in shower did the job, shampoo/ conditioner/ soap provided (take toothpaste) the hotel fronts on to the main road so you may be disturbed in the morning if you want a lie in, but wasn’t an issue for us, check out by 10.30am. Staff were friendly and hands off i.e. check in and carry on and we’re around if you need anything there is a free phone in the lobby if you need to speak to them out of hours. One key for room and one key for front door. No breakfast included but we just walked up the road to ‘The George’ (corner of High Street and Lion Street) for a superb cooked breakfast. Then number 100 bus to Camber Sands for a day at the beach which was the purpose of the stay – so £55 for the room and happy with what we got for it.

“Such good value for money, and right in the centre.”

We stayed here a few years ago and returned just for a short visit. Rooms are clean and have tea and coffee making facilities and for £50 for a double room when we stayed is very good value for money ( a family room was only £65 at the time). On one of the main roads in Rye, you just have a short walk to the cobbled streets and gorgeous buildings thay Rye is famous for. There is free parking at the back and the receptionist was very helpful.

Stayed one night in this motel which does not offer food. Room was fine, clean, en suite and appropriate. Parking available. Staff were very helpful and polite. Would recommend for a budget stay.
