My girlfriend and I turned up on our motorcycle to stay for the weekend and were made to feel very welcome. Lovely light and airy bedroom, very clean and a high standard of fittings. Best thing is that it's only a 10 min stroll into the centre of Rye where you can see all the other more expensive places to stay.

We stayed at The Knoll for a weekend in August as we had a wedding in Camber to attend. The B&B is less than 10 minutes walk to the centre of Rye. The owners were very welcoming, the place spotless and the price perfect. We would definitely go back if we had another reason to stay in Rye. Friday night dinner at the Fish Cafe was a highlight too.

We stayed at The Knoll for a weekend of walking around Rye and Winchelsea. The hosts were very friendly and welcoming, the room spotless and very comfortable and the breakfasts delicious. Excellent value for money! Our room had a lovely view and we could watch the sun rise every morning. There was also parking at the bottom of the house which was great as we could see during our travels parking in Rye can be tricky.

An easy 5-minute walk from the centre of Rye, this place is very comfortable, well appointed and hugely welcoming. Spotlessly clean and with a truly excellent shower and great bed, the accommodation is very good value indeed. A full length mirror would make it just perfect! There’s a nice terrace with views out to the sea in the distance if you fancy some fresh air. The best and most unusual feature by far though is the hosts – a gracious, witty and fun family for whom absolutely nothing is too much trouble – their genuine bonhomie has to be experienced to be believed. Many other B&Bs in the UK could learn a lot from these folks! Breakfast is excellent, a real feast and just how it should be. We cheekily asked for “slow-roasted iguana” as a giggle under the “any special requirements” on the booking form – and sure enough this duly arrived the next morning ceremonially served on a bed of curry sauce – see photos – hugely entertaining and such a nice touch!! It was shame to leave – truly first class!
