“Best of British”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 December 2011

Some years back I stayed at this hotel over the Christmas period. Our room was extremely spacious with an excellent, modern bathroom. The building itself is marvellous, the public rooms spacious and in the best of taste. Christmas dinner in the wonderful restaurant could not be faulted, either for food or service - top marks.
Anyone visiting Britain and wanting to see some wonderful countryside not far from London should come here for a coupe of days, they won't be disappointed. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Get a suite if possible, they are so spacious.

Further to my previous review. Our daughters wedding was perfect. Nothing was too much trouble. All the staff were just so helpful. We could not fault it in anyway. If its your kind of place you will not better it.

Room Tip: Tell the staff what you want.

“A wonderful treat”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 December 2011

We stayed overnight in this fabulous hotel, steeped in history and set in wonderful surroundings. We were greeted with afternoon tea served in the lounge in front of one of the log fires. We had been upgraded to a suite which was a lovely surprise , at no extra charge. The staff were discreet and attentive at all times. The evening meal ( a la carte) was divine and the breakfast did not disappoint either. The decor of the entire hotel is of the highest standard and the architecture of this Victorian mansion is based on the Gothic revivalist movement. It was once owned by Lord Rupert Neville ( treasurer to the Queen and Prince Philip) and all the Royals were often weekend guests. If you ask for the Windsor Suite well in advance you will be able to sleep in the same room as her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

Room Tip: We had the "Garden Suite" which was bathed in sunshine. Steps out to the lawns.

We booked a birthday tea to be celebrated in the lounge. On our arrival the table was laid and looked inviting. Not only was our tea of scones .sandwiches excellent, but the wonderful collection of sculptured cakes were a pure treat!
The discreet and yet attentive service too was excellent...................
We shall definitely be returning and bring others to share the treat.

“Beautiful hotel and great service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 October 2011

We stayed here for my brother-in-law's wedding and had an amazing time. The service was impeccable, and the lovely staff were more than happy to serve us cheese and wine in the drawing room after the dining room had shut (and drinks until rather late in the evening!) The breakfast was also fantastic. We stayed in a small standard that definitely did not feel small, there was a separate dressing area and decent sized bathroom too. The only minor niggle we had was that there was no kettle, but this in no way affected our enjoyment of this lovely, sensitively renovated historic gem.
