We spent Saturday night at The Shellys. Our bedroom was magnificent. Dinner in the evening and breakfast the next day were both superb and the cost of the whole stay was reasonable. We will definitely return!

The Hotel rooms are all individual, comfortable and clean. There are no tea making facilities, however you may order a free tray of tea or coffee up to 10am in the morning.
The breakfast was beautifully cooked and presented and my husband particularly enjoyed his smoked haddock with poached egg.
The hotel boasts lovely gardens to the rear.

We had an excellent weekend away at this Hotel; it was an offer from Groupon. We went a while ago but can only write review now.. We recommend this Hotel, the evening meal was superb and breakfast very good too. The staff were very friendly and attentive. We will love to go back and strongly recommend

A beautiful, historic building in a quaint little town. What a shame that what could be a truly excellent hotel at times feels only mediocre. After just a couple of hours we had already written a letter to the management, voicing our disappointment - all things that have been mentioned on this site before:
Very poor reservation communication
Unacceptable picture quality on the TV
Shabby & torn furnishings in one of our rooms
Sombre & lack-lustre attitude of some of the staff on duty
No welcome tea or coffee offered......
The list went on & on. The place felt cold & desterted as there were very few guests staying on our first night but to be fair to the staff, by our second night we were feeling much happier. It is a very beautiful building - the dining room & grounds are truly lovely & our bathroom was of a high standard. A change of staff suddenly had the place buzzing. Just goes to show just how important it is to have well-trained staff as it can make all the difference in the world. By the time we left we had ripped up our letter of compalint and would probably return again.
