“5th or 6th visit!”

i still love this place.
its the facilities that make it.the jaccusi in each room and the heated japanese rock pool at the bottom of the garden.free wifi.
its isnt your ordinary b&b.the hosts are low key.we are usually left on the doorstep for a while before they let you in.we like being left to ourselves though.
it is an ideal base for discovering hastings.10 minute walk into town..15 to the old town which is where we usually spend our time.lovely independent shops.lots of nice places to eat.
will no doubt visit again.
we paid £99 for two nights.

Room Tip: the rooms on the ground floor at the back have direct access out to the pool which saves having to g...

“One night stay at Japanese/ French Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 October 2011

Only stayed for one night. The room was very comfortable. The bathroom was probable the best feature, as it had a japanese toilet and a jacuzzi! The toilet had a heated seat and a few different functions to choose from. There was also a heated swimming pool out the back. The staff were friendly and helpful. Did not eat a meal at the hotel but did have the french/japanese breakfast, that gives an option for everyone. Walkable distance from town and beach. Enjoyable visit, would recommend.

Room Tip: I dont know if it was only the downstairs rooms that had the jacuzzi so may be worth asking before h...

“More positive update to 'Can't quite believe it - in a bad way'”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 October 2011

Just wanted to return to say that having told us we'd be charged extra for arriving a matter of minutes late, when we actually arrived a few mins later than their stated check in, we weren't charged extra in the end. The room was right by the front door so we got communal noise, but the room's saving grace was the traditional deep Japanese bath contained within the room. Be warned it takes about an hour to fully fill, and it feels like a bit of a waste of water, but for an occasional treat, it was really private and relaxing and made our experience of the hotel in advance of our visit that much easier to digest. I still think there's plenty more this hotel could be doing to make improvements, both to guest comfort and customer service. There are some funny examples of 'Engrish' signage dotted around the place, though, which make it feel quite authentically Japanese.

“Very let down”

I booked this place in June, through Booking.com. We got a good deal on the superior room. We were only staying for one night, down for a friend’s birthday. My husband works on Saturdays, but we managed to leave at 4pm, giving us that little bit extra time, hence booking the superior room. During the afternoon, my husband rang just to confirm that we did have the SR, he was told yes.
We arrived at 6pm, had to wait quite a while for somebody to come and let us in. Whilst in the hall, waiting to be booked in, my husband mentioned again, the SR, then the lady, who spoke broken English, was mumbling & saying sorry there had been a mix up, I was trying to establish what mix up & then she told us that the only room available was a twin bedded room, although very upset, we agreed to see it. She took us down to an annex bit & into one of two extensions. Not only was the room twin bedded, it was so small & had no outside windows, as the way into the room was through the bathroom & was so humid in there. I was so very upset, which she could see, she offered to ring round to find alternative accommodation, bur for one night & already wasting so much precious time, we had no choice but to stay, she knocked £15 off of the bill, but that really was not the point. We had to open the sky lights in the bathroom to try and cool the room.
They had heated roof pool & a Jacuzzi in the bathroom, which might have been nice in other circumstances.
She offered a discount on the SR should we return.
Really not likely
My husband was a bit sceptical & just had a feelling that this was going to happen, that is why he rang in the afternoon. Funny he was proved right.

“Unusual experience”

Either you adore it, or you dislike it. The jacuzzis in the large batheooms, the outdoor 37C pool, the japanese TV channels, together with the french-speaking hosts are all a very nice diversion from the traditional english B&Bs on your vacation. One the other hand, no windows in the rather small rooms, surroundings making you worried about you car parked in the street, and strange japanese breakfast could easily spoil your stay. If you love Japan and France and need a proper fridge, go for it. Want another traditional B&B, chose something else.
