“No hot water”

Room was clean, staff friemdly but in the morning (7.30am Sunday) there was no hot water for a shower. Rang reception and was told to wait 5 mins and they would sort it.Waited but nothing happened. When asked reception about the problem at 9am after breakfast, was told it was because everyone was using the water. Not good enough when you want a shower!

“Good value”

Stayed for one night in a twin room. Stayed in room 206 which was a good size and well decorated. Had a sea view room which was lovely but the windows are ill fitting so it was quite noisy - I could even hear the tide ebbing and flowing. The bathroom, as others have commented, was very tired and needed updating. The bath was stained - but was clean - and there was a mis-mash of styles of tiles. However, the shower was powerful and water hot and towels clean.

The upstairs corridors also need updating. Paintwork is grubby and carpet almost threadbare in places. Ground floor decor is in very good order though.

Gentleman on reception was friendly and was the same person that served at breakfast. Breakfast is excellent value. Wide selection of cold choices, plenty of tea and coffee and a good selection of hot choices for a cooked breakfast. Breakfast was served in the Indian restaurant. It was a pleasant environment to eat in, with a sea view.

Overall, for the price paid, it is very good value for money and I would stay here again if visiting Hastings again.

The hotel is on the sea front in a nice location. Just a couple of minutes walk to the theatre and the shopping precinct. Very good shopping centre and plenty of places to eat. We ate in the Mexican restaurant in the precinct (next to Bentons) and it was very good.

“good for short break”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 November 2010

We stayed at this hotel on the 26th and 27th of October, were given a triple room with sea view. Room was very big with big bay window overlooking the sea, shame the weather wasnt better. Room very clean as was the bed linen, tea and coffee making left a bit to be desired, cups and saucers and a tray would be nice with a few packs of biscuits, still this is only a three star. The bathroom was badly in need of an update but at least the towels were very clean. Best place for a great meal is Bentons in the high street, great food and service was excellent. Would we stay here again, not I dont think so.

“Pleasant Surprise”

I needed somewhere to stay in Hastings at the last minute and found this hotel. Having read the reviews here I was not looking forward to the experience, but had little choice as I booked on Saturday morning to stay Saturday night. I travelled down with a friend and we took two standard double rooms.

The room I stayed in was certainly not large, but perfectly adequate. As others have mentioned the bathroom could do with an update and was looking a little tired.

Having said that the room was spotlessly clean, as were the bed and the towels. There was a TV and a kettle. The were perfectly adequate toiletries in the bathroom.

The staff were helpful and pleasant. There was easy parking right outside. I can't comment on the food as we didn't eat there.

For the price we paid, which was £55 per room, I certainly have no complaints and neither did my friend. I have stayed in far worse 4* hotels before.

I have never written a review on here, but decided to write this one as I thought the place deserved a vote in its favour given the critical reviews that I was relying on.

“Enjoyable fivedays”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 October 2010

We had 2 rooms ,1 single and 1 twin ,twin room excellant apart bath that could do with replacing, single room too small and is not worth the extra that you have pay.
Restuarant and food very good, bar far too expensive even for a hotel.
Location ideal for all the sights.
We would stay there again, only one trouble lift great to all floors but acess to hotel from the street for disabled not very good, steps and no ramp
