Paid £40 for a single with seaview which I thought was a very good deal considering it's location and that it was still September.
The receptionist was ok, not very welcoming, just functional but polite. The stairs were really threadbare up to the room, completely worn in places and pretty dangerous; it wouldn't take much to catch a foot in one of the threads.
The room itself was ok; right on the seafront - an excellent location with a superb view of the beach and sadly burnt out pier. The outer window though was unbelievably dirty - it can't have been cleaned for many, many months and spoiled it a bit. The room itself must have been cutting edge about 15/20 years ago but now, everything is generally worn, slightly tatty, chipped or filled in. It's not the end of the world but this is a hotel that has been patched up and re-patched many times by the looks of things.
At night, it's pretty noisy as there is a club/late bar in the place next door that goes on to the early hours with a fair amount of revellry coming from passers by also but that is what I expected and should be expected in staying in this location.
Overall, it's pretty good value for the location and sea view. It needs a major overhaul but I doubt the prices would stay the same - you are very much getting what you pay for and I think they know that in all honesty. If your main necessities are price, location, a reasonable room and not too fussy about some noise, then this is a good bet.
Room Tip: Ask if there is a sea view or front room avaliable
