“Stunning”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

We got moved to the Claremont when our other hotel had problems! and we were more than happy!we had the deluxe room which was fantastic, very clean and tidy, very happy helpful staff.Loved all the small touches in the room right down to the cotton wool in the bathroom! is a bit far from the lanes but a lovely walk along the seafront so best of both worlds! a big thank you too the staff for making our weekend relaxed will be coming back again soon!

Room Tip: Good pair of walking shoes

“It's a bit naughty of them...”

First points:
It's NOT a hotel.
It's not in Brighton.
I paid a fair price for a 5 star hotel, in Brighton. For this place, I paid too much.

These are quite important points. To get to 'The Lanes' is a good half an hour walk. Pleasant as the walk is, I feel a bit conned.

We stayed in a big room. It has a four poster. It has an 80's, cheap four poster bed, (you know the sort, tubular steel in grey), cheap furniture, (no drawers for clothes?), but it was spotlessly clean, with lovely bed linen.
Breakfast wasn't as I expected. I had full English with poached eggs. It was mediocre at best. The sausage was excellent, the bacon very cheap, (only one piece), a soggy formerly frozen hash brown and my pet hate: mushrooms that were boiled? It took ages to be delivered. Breakfast was busy overall, we were one of the early ones there. It took over 20 mins to be delivered. I asked for extra toast - another 15 mins later and I gave up.
As I said, it was busy, but not that busy?

It's very much style over substance in my opinion. I also feel agrieved and a bit conned about the 'hotel' and 'Brighton' part. It's cleanliness is second to none, but it's trying to bat above its level.

“Lovely Place, Lovely People”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

I stayed for 6 nights whilst working in Shoreham. The owners and staff were wonderful, beautiful attention to detail, and I was impressed with the artwork, which changes quarterly in support of local artists. The only thing to be aware of are the stairs. Several to get to the front door, and all rooms are above the entry level. The higher the room #, the more stairs to climb.

“A lovely change from 'chain hotels'”

Located about 15-20mins walk from the main 'centre' of Brighton (The Lanes) but not an unpleasant walk. Two minutes from the seafront - more Hove than Brighton. Parking outside at £5 per day which is reasonable in Brighton. Lovely accommodation, paid extra for a deluxe room and it was worth it. Lots of small individual touches that make a difference. Great staff. Amazing breakfast! Would definately stay here again.

Room Tip: Worth upgrading to a deluxe room - room 8 was lovely.

“A gem in Brighton (Hove, Actually)”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 December 2011 via mobile

I have had the pleasure of staying at The Claremont for a total of 8 weeks in the last year and I swear it gets better with each trip. The staff is friendly and attentive, the location is perfect (easy to walk into town or the sea front) and the only thing that will get you out of the comfy beds in the morning is the delicious breakfast.

I have to come to Brighton for work and I am lucky to get to stay at such a lovely hotel.
