“PLEASE, PLEASE DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL”

I have just returned from a 3 night stay at this hotel with my husband and parents inlaw, and it has the worst hotel owner we have ever come across. As soon as we arrived he wanted our payment in cash, which we had agreed but let us get in and unpack at least.
He then took us to our room which had been newly decorated and was ok, very basic and not what we were expecting after seeing the photos online. there was nothing at all in the bathroom, no hand soap or shelves to put your stuff on, it was so bare it looked like a factory toilet.
He showed us the fridge and the contents which were water, mini coke cans and small cartons of juice, he said they are £1 each.We later discovered that 2 cartons were out of date.
The showers did not work properly in both rooms and were hopeless. There was no handle on our wardrobe it was in the bedside table.
We were told that breakfast times were 9 - 10.30 and there would be no changes to this time no matter what. We said we have to catch a train on Monday at 9.49 could we have it abit earlier then and he said NO because it takes to long for the sausages to cook and his staff did not arrive until 8.30 and they will not be rushed, even thou we were the only guests that morning.
My husband asked if he could have some cereal whilst the full english was being prepared but he said NO you have one or the other, we could not believe it, we have never been to a hotel and refused cereal.
On the last morning we went down to the breakfast room at about 8.35 and waited on the sofas that he insists you sit on before going to your table. He came in and flipped on us for being in there at that time, the man is a complete nutter and is really got a personality problem.
He then sat and told us how much it costs to run the hotel and how hard he works and he seem to resent us being there, we have not come away for a weekend break to hear about his problems running his business. And to top it all when we thought it could not get any worse he rang my husband on the afternoon when we had just arrived home, he accused us of stealing the wicker basket and toiletries out of the bathroom, OMG there was not even any there. Very strange experience. Please DO NOT book this hotel.

“BRILLIANT !!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 January 2012

I dont normally write reviews but I do often read them .However I have been prompted to do so after noticing some really rather shocking and very personal reviews about a lovely little B&B that I stayed in last year. The "reviews" seem to be more about the owner than the hotel and I was very surprised as my experience at Millards was totally positive.
I went with three other girlfriends of mine in October for the weekend. On arrival Tony , the owner, helped us find a parking place which I didn't realise would be quite so difficult in Brighton. We were then shown to our rooms which although they were quite small and at the back of the hotel were spotlessly clean and very comfortable.
The hotel is perfectly placed right in the heart of Brighton near the sea and the pier with lots of restaurants and shops nearby .Breakfast was great freshly cooked a real full english !!! It kept us going for the rest of the day. Tony and his staff were helpful suggesting places to go and things to do and even the weather was good !We didn't need the car as it is really easy to walk anywhere around Brighton and parking is a bit of a nightmare.
We had such a good time that I am going back in April with my boyfriend and this time I am going to stay in Room4 which is at the front and has sea views. I can't wait.
So I have absolutely no qualms in recommending this perfect little gem. It"s BRILLIANT !!!!!

Room Tip: The rooms at the front are bigger.

“Nice place but horrible manager”

I stayed here once and will not again,
Reviews describe Tony {Black Guy} as the owner, He is not. He is merely a care taker. The owner is Mr. Millard who does not work there. Would Mr Millard please replace this man and look to a profitable future.
When I checked in Tony had a strong smell of weed all over. This is not a good welcome for anyone, Then the rudeness started.
No Thanks.

Room Tip: Another Guesthouse?

“Don't do it!”

Anyone choosing to stay at this hotel having read the reviews here must be mad. The owner is completely paranoid. The place is just not worth £20 per night let alone £95 per room. The only thing it has going for it is the location. You will be drawn into a conversation with the owner whether you want to be or not. These conversations will almost certainly be about how horrible his guests have been to him, how racist, rude and arrogant almost everyone who has stayed there has been and how terribly hard he works. I am almost certain that none of this is true. Tony has no idea how to run a hotel or converse with people in an appropriate manner. The building is cheaply decorated, breakfast was one piece of everything and nothing more. As a guest you are made to feel as if you should be grateful you have been allowed to stay here and woe betide anyone who has a different opinion to Tony you will be sorry you aired your opinion if you do. From the morning of the day we were due to arrive we had to phone in with details about how long it would take us to get to the hotel. Having come up against delays on the motorway, it was impossible to give an arrival time. This clearly wasnt good enough. There is nothing good to say about this place other than it's location is spot on. However, we spent as much time away from the place as we possibly could. This is a really unpleasant individual in completely the wrong business. Spend a little more on your accomodation and stay somewhere else or you really will be sorry.

Room Tip: Choose a room in a different hotel

“Tony the Terror”

I wrote a review about this place in August and I'm disappointed to see it has not been published.
My girlfriend and I stayed at this B&B for a weekend in August as we had purchased tickets to see a band at the Brighton Dome.
Everything was going well until on our 2nd day our key got stuck in the door and snapped. I rang Tony immediately to let him know and he he became very aggressive over the phone. Much different from the pleasant and charming man he portrayed to be on first meeting him.
When he arrived at the B&B he demanded money from me to pay for the lock. I told him that there was no chance I was paying and he forced us to leave.
I ended up booking a room at the Jurys Hotel in Brighton where I was treated like a king and fortunately Tony's insecurities did not spoil our trip.
I would advise anyone who has stayed here and suffered the wrath of Tony to inform the Brighton Tourism Alliance at http://www.thetourismalliance.co.uk/
I would also advise those of you who are considering staying here to read the many negative reviews here.
