“Lovely impromptu stay!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2012

My boyfriend and I booked this hotel the night before we decided to go away for a couple of days. We are both in the hotel trade so expected high standards being a 4* hotel and looking at the blurb and pictures on their website.
There is a paid underground car park underneath Regency Square which was very convenient. Check in was very simple and efficient. He handed us the keys for the Camera Venezia room, which is right on the top floor. Unfortunately, they do not have a lift here, and I have a bad knee...so while I had to drag myself up about 5 flights of stairs, my poor boyfriend had to drag up both cases (and we don't travel light!). The room was clean and nicely decorated. However, the window was very small and didn't open very far...not great for a top floor bedroom in summer! The man on reception was very helpful when we asked for recommendations for restaurants and I'm very glad we took heed! Akashi, the indian around the corner is absolutely amazing! It's about a 15 minute walk from the Pier, but that's not too bad as it was nice to walk along the beach. Check out was efficient as well.
Overall we had a really nice 2 night stay. Not sure we would stay again though, due to the amount of stairs!!!

“Could have been wonderful...but not!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

We stayed here in summer and booked the Chinoise Garden room. It was very nice but a lot more "tired" looking than on the pictures. It could also have been cleaner. Breakfast was a very poor affair, bad service and bad food. We will not return here.

“Good location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 November 2011

Like the title says, the location is really the main attraction of this hotel. That and the fact that you can book for 1 night only at the weekend (we found many hotels in Brighton had a min 2 night stay). No lift so you may consider that a negative. The rooms seemed very dark and the carpet in the bedroom was extremely worn, the rooms seemed run down. That said the bathroom was very clean which is always good! Friendly lady on reception. Ok, but Im sure there are nicer places to stay.

“Odd”

There was something strange about this hotel. It was nice but i guess it was the staff just handed you the keys and that was it. There wasn't really a service. The gentleman that opened the door for me guided us to the reception and just gave me an invoice and took my card to pay for the room and that was it. He did not smile or say "i hope you enjoy your stay", it just was very basic.

The room was really nice, i liked the interior and the overall theme. I think it was a good idea to have themed rooms. The bathroom was clean but there were still hairs on the pillows and the back of the duvet dresser.

I am not too sure what to say - i really don't but i just checked out feeling odd.

I mean i would recommend on the style and location of the hotel but in terms of service - there really wasn't anything...

“Rich, sophisticated, luxurious a amazing place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 September 2011

For our Anniversary my partner wanted to treat me with a trip to Brighton, we been together 2 years but we never really celebrated an anniversary, for many reasons but most of it is because no many places allows same sex booking during the weekend, which I feel outrageous, but that’s not the point… we wanted a boutique hotel that provided luxury and intimacy, after much searching we decided to book the Royal Pavilion Townhouse Hotel as it had an exquisite room decorated in Chinese style called Beijing Dragon and by the picture looked like it was decorated for special occasion. It was not cheap, I must say it, however sometimes you have to spend a bit more in order to get what you really want and considering the location, facilities and décor we felt it was excellent value.
We arrived on Saturday afternoon, we were directed to the 2nd floor into our room, for my surprise there was a beautiful bouquet of red roses on the table, a bottle of champagne inside (what I can only call it dedication), this stylish glass vase/bucket with a wonderful red and gold ribbon knotted around it and filled with ice, even though it was just for the purpose of chilling the champagne we could tell it had taken time to prepare it, inside it was few rose petals on the top of the ice cubes, because it was glass the sight of it was something else the red of the petals with the ice and the green of the bottle made a gorgeous mosaic, it was carefully placed on the side of the glass table and some rose petals sprinkled around it. Then on the sofa was truffle chocolates in a lovely glass bow decorated with gold aluminum foil, 2 champagne glasses wrapped with red napkins and tied with a tiny gold ribbon, next to it was another glass bow with a variety of fruits, everything matching perfectly, then I saw the opulent 4 poster bed, covered with rose petals, and a Single red rose on the pillow. Before I had the chance to cry as huge was my surprise I was taken aback by the sea view from the large window. There room was magnificent, the painting, the pictures, the size and the bathroom…wow. A huge corner Jacuzzi big enough for me and my other half and on top of that there was a separated box shower. Right then and there I was certain that she had falling in love with me all over again. The Manageress had prepared the surprise and decoration as per my partner request, I have no idea how much it cost because, as the booking and décor was made separated and she was careful for me not to see it, which was very thoughtful of her, the staff at this hotel are absolutely amazing from the manageress, the gentleman in the Reception, to the gentleman on the night. They were discreet, welcoming, respectful and as helpful as you can request. Throughout our stay they all were fantastic made us feel very comfortable, nothing was too much for them, always keen to help, even good restaurant recommendation and reservation it was provided for us. I want to leave a big THANK YOU to the whole hotel especially to the manageress that made my 1st ever anniversary celebration memorable. Thank You All.
