Stayed here with my boyfriend For a night on 27 Jan on a dinner, bed and breakfast deal booked by my boss as a leaving present. The room was lovely and spacious (we stayed in the Gracia de Chille room), the bathroom a good size with free standing bath and hidden monsoon shower, the bed was huge and one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in.
However... As part of the DB&B deal you get dinner, but are responsible for paying for any drinks and service charge. We bought a modest bottle of rose wine, my boyfriend had a coffee to finish off dinner and afterwards we retreated to the bar for a beer and a cocktail. When it came to checking out we were faced with a bill for £75. I have absolutely no problem with paying for drinks etc and it really is one of the best hotels i have stayed at, but this deal was booked for me and I had not seen any any t&cs to read, not were the details obvious on the website and nor did the reception, restaurant or bar staff explain what was included in the deal. I had a suspicion that we may have had to contribute so we were not extravagant however it would be easy to get carried away as the drinks were good and the setting (dark comfy sofas in the bar area) make you want to stay.
That said, £75 was a lot but as the room was £185 (dutifully paid for by my boss) I can't really moan!
A lovely hotel that I will definitely recommend to friends. Another tip - park in the NCP on Russell Road and tell the hotel staff. When you check out they will give you a discount card for 25% off the car park bill.
