“What a fantastic place!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2012

I have stayed here twice and I love it. This time was for a 50th birthday. Our bedroom was gorgeous - not huge - but very comfortable with a fabulous bathroom and access to a lovely little roof terrace. The bed was so wonderfully comfortable that getting up - particularly after a good night - almost impossible! I loved the bar and indeed our host laid on a fantastic champagne reception on the first floor. The staff were fabulous and the canapes and champagne absolutely delicious. Dinner was served in a private dining room next to the main dining room. It was overwhelmingly good as was breakfast next day. All in all I can thoroughly recommend this hotel.

“Excellent but read the small print!”

Stayed here with my boyfriend For a night on 27 Jan on a dinner, bed and breakfast deal booked by my boss as a leaving present. The room was lovely and spacious (we stayed in the Gracia de Chille room), the bathroom a good size with free standing bath and hidden monsoon shower, the bed was huge and one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in.
However... As part of the DB&B deal you get dinner, but are responsible for paying for any drinks and service charge. We bought a modest bottle of rose wine, my boyfriend had a coffee to finish off dinner and afterwards we retreated to the bar for a beer and a cocktail. When it came to checking out we were faced with a bill for £75. I have absolutely no problem with paying for drinks etc and it really is one of the best hotels i have stayed at, but this deal was booked for me and I had not seen any any t&cs to read, not were the details obvious on the website and nor did the reception, restaurant or bar staff explain what was included in the deal. I had a suspicion that we may have had to contribute so we were not extravagant however it would be easy to get carried away as the drinks were good and the setting (dark comfy sofas in the bar area) make you want to stay.
That said, £75 was a lot but as the room was £185 (dutifully paid for by my boss) I can't really moan!
A lovely hotel that I will definitely recommend to friends. Another tip - park in the NCP on Russell Road and tell the hotel staff. When you check out they will give you a discount card for 25% off the car park bill.

“Great comfortable hotel in a great location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 January 2012

My husband and I have stayed at the Du Vin twice now and have never been dissapointed. Both times we have had very quiet rooms out the back of the hotel. The beds are very comfortable and the rooms are always spotless. The food is also very good too. Also a great location for shopping in the day and bars and restuarants in the evening. Hoping to return soon.

“great stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 January 2012

Lovely room, great food, friendly helpful staff offering good service. I was slightly concerned when our room seemed to be over the pub but the sound proofing was excellent and we did not hear a thing!

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend. Hope to return soon

“Could do better”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 January 2012

There is nothing wrong with this hotel apart from the lack of a lift! This should be pointed out on the web site as it was difficult to access the room via the stairs! The checking in was slow because they did not have our confirmed booking on their system. We were told to go and take a seat while they sorted out the problem. When we came to checking out there was still a problem as they hadn't updated their system so they attempted to charge us the wrong rate. All of this is frustrating and makes what should be a memorable occasion memorable but for the wrong reasons. On a positive note, the room was adequate although the air conditioning was noisy. The bed was very comfortable and the room was quiet. The best thing was the shower which was very good with plenty of hot water with the right pressure.
