“Very dated and freezing cold room, not impressed!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

We booked this after spending a night in the Bournemouth Premier Inn, thinking it may be of the same standard. We were wrong!

Location - was good. On a main shopping street, just cross the road and head into the lanes. There is a car park at the back of the hotel, but it is not attached and you cannot gain direct access into the hotel, like Bournemouth.

Check in - was friendly and efficient. Enough staff on duty to not have to wait around more than a couple of minutes.

The room - was the worst part of the stay. Tired and dated, freezing cold, small double bed, noisy flush from the toilet and the shower went freezing, causing me to have to jump out sharpish and wait for it to heat back up again.
The corridor to our room was also cold, we felt a big difference from the strip of corridor prior to our bit through the fire doors. Despite turning the room stat up, it was just cold air coming through. We ended up requesting extra blankets and were given duvets.

Food - was fine. We did the meal deal and had dinner as well as breakfast. Being able to order eggs was a nice touch for a budget hotel.

Staff - were very friendly, in a genuine way. Probably the best part of the stay.

We informed reception of our room being freezing cold, but no mention of the sleep guarrentee was discussed with us. Overall, I'm left feeling negative about our experience and I would not stay here again. Nor would I reccomend it to friends. I think the manager should spend a few nights at the Bournemouth hotel, to see how it can be done.

“Overall very good”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012 via mobile

Stayed for one night, easy to find the NCP car park and hotel is directly behind it via lift. Check in was quick, room was a very good size. Room was extremely cold the heater didn't seem to work that well and the control panel was loose on the wall. The room other than this was good. The bar is a little small for size of hotel but plenty of other places to go. Parking is £18.75 with discount for 24 hours.

“Couldn't have been more helpful...”

Stayed for one night, and was pleasantly suprised and impressed by the helpful and positive atitude of the staff. Very welcoming. Room was basic but clean, with plenty of hotwater. It was very cold outside, and I would say that either the thermostat or heating for our room was broken, or not very efficent. That said the room was adequately warm. We paid forthe full breakfast, and again staff in the resturant were excellent. The coffee was great and the cooked breakfast was good too. We would definatley recommend this hotel as I think some of the more established hotels in Brighton are a bit shabby and disappointing for more £.

Room Tip: Room 605, once they've checked the thermostat. Was very quiet considering central location.

Thanks for your honest and positive review!

I remember how cold it was in early february when you stayed and it was bitter to say the least.
Please accept our apologies that you experienced problems with the air conditioning, any issues are logged and we aim to resolve them ASAP - so in essence it's good we know!

“Good value for money!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

This is the second time that we have stayed here. The rooms are a good size and very clean. The beds are comfortable and big.

The position of the hotel is great. It is in the middle of everything.

We booked early online and got a massive discount.

Firstly, thank you for your comments regarding your stay with us. I'm glad to hear your first stay was great, that you came back again! Our rooms are a great size, with ample space to move around and relax, exactly what you need when you take a trip away!
Did you know that Hypnos makes the beds we use, which supply beds to Her Majesty the Queen!
We love being a centrally located hotel, being in the heart of such a lovely city and were glad you liked it too.
If you book far enough in advance, around 3 weeks, you can great offers such as the Premier Offer rooms for £29 and up. It's great if you’re planning a nice couple of days away.

We look forward to you staying with us again!
