“IF YOU ARE BIT POSH DO NOT GO THERE”

Stayed at this hotel weekend 3rd-5th Feb with a group of friends from Leicester to watch the game against Brighton on saturday. When we arrived Friday afternoon the hotel was already full of Leicester fans Stag do and Hen partys and the bar area was full of drunken youths already but not causing any trouble.Theres no draught beer just bottle beer and not cheep. Are rooms where on the 6 floor which was clean and tidy but do remember to turn your own heating on as it was freezing. We had a good quite nights sleep on the 6 floor but those on the 3rd and 4th floor did not . The breakfast was fine and as much as you wanted but not much eating area.It is about 45 min walk to the seafront but there are plenty of pubs on the way to break the journey up.All in all you get what you pay for and i would stay there again for a cheap weekend.

Room Tip: rooms on 6th to 8th floor more quieter

“All In All....”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

Myself and my wife had a family party to attend so booked the same day as we came down, cost £63. The price for a travelodge was a bit steep but apparently if we had booked it a week earlier it would have cost £29, I think its the same approach as airlines. On arrival the bar and reception was full to the brim with drunken revellers. It did seem quite intimidating, but once informed that the bar was open until 5am we joined them. The staff were very calm, pleasant and professional, which is more than I would have been. Our room on the first floor was perfectly equipped for someone with a disability and although neither myself or my wife currently suffer from a disability the roll bars on the toilet saved her on more than one occasion. The room was clean and the heater (which only took the turning of a switch) had the room very warm within 10 minutes. All in all...Exactly what is says on the tin, would we stay again? Yep No Worries

“You get what you pay for”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

I paid £25 for the room and although it sounds mean, I wouldn't have wanted to pay much more which can cost up to almost £90. The lift to the 6th floor was filthy and the room was freezing cold - apparantly you have to switch your own electric convector on when you arrive - this is in the winter!. The room was dusty and grubby with broken window catches and no handset for the very poor TV . The heater in the bathroom was disconnected (for your safety) which applies to every room. No throws on the bed - just a white duvet cover
which to be fair was very clean as were the sheets. Terrible lumpy pillows - take your own!
On the bright side - quite a good breakfast and snacky evening meals are available at a fair price. It was saved from a "terrible review by the food and the overall price I paid

Room Tip: Ask for a "family room - usually the same price.- never pay the top price - book saver price

“Reasonable Hotel, Reasonable Location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

As we regularly come to Brighton we're always on the look out for a mid week stay for 2-4 nights for a bargain - so we booked here for £80 for 3 night which is a quite reasonable. the overall look of the hotel is very tired from the outside.

Room:
Bigger than previous travelodge stays but was disappointed when we didn't have a duvet the first night and no staff where there to be seen in order to get one, ended up sleeping in jumpers! But this was rectified over the next two nights.

Location:
Location great to get to via car, 40 minute walk into main bit of brighton, or £1.40 single bus journey there or back to about 5 mins away if you had a nice bus driver later on at night who would stop at places that weren't bus stops (we had a few) - ideal for the time of year as we didn't mind walking but this would have been frustrating if the weather was bad. If you walked through london road area, it was great to note the pubs/shops/supermarkets if you didn't fancy eating in a restuarant in town.

Noise:
The latter two nights coincided with coachloads of foreign students and whilst we have no problems with them at all in fact expect it in brighton - the noise and the ten minute wait just to get into the lobby through a crowd of at times somewhat rude individuals was a bit excessive at times.

Parking:
A small carpark for the size of the hotel, so we arrive early to ensure we could guarantee a place which was beneficial as it was full the majority of the time. Great price at about £3.00 approx 24 hours.

overall, you get what you pay for, would stay for the ease/price/car park during the warmer months.

“Worst hotel ever!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 January 2012

I've stayed in this hotel in the last two or three years and it was fine, but during my last visit on Jan 2012, things have changed dramatically. The first room we were in had bed bugs, so we were transferred into another. The second room wasn't very clean either & smelled of damp. The duvet and the matress were dirty and had blood stains on them. We asked for the duvet to be be replaced and we got Another dirty one. During our four-day stay, our room wasn't hoovered once, bed sheets were never changed, rubbish wasn't collected and to add to our horror, we found a condom inside the kettle. All I can say we were very pleased to leave that place.
