Reading the other reviews of this hotel raised my expectations but we were a bit disappointed overall really. The location is great, right across from the pier and 5-10 minutes walk into the Lanes and bars/restaurants. A 15 minute walk (downhill) from the train station so get a taxi back up! The weather was great and Brighton is a great place to visit so this made our trip. On arrival we dropped our bags at the hotel which was at about 12pm and they told us to come back about 2-3pm to check in, we returned at 3.10 but couldn't get into the room till 5 so we wasted a bit of time hanging around as we were told a couple of times "it'll be ready soon!" but wish we had gone off to the beach instead now. I appreciate they were busy but we often had to go through to the bar to find staff and the seemed a bit disorganised although they were friendly and helpful. The room itself was very clean and well thought out in that there was a full length mirror with a hairdryer on the wall next to it but it was very small, cramped and hot, could have really done with a fan. The decor of the room was also very dated and basic. The bed was amazing though, I slept really well, linen and duvet were good quality. The bathroom was a wet room but didn't function well in that if you had a shower the whole floor was wet for ages so if you just went to the loo you got wet feet. Nice hot shower though. We did get a good rate for this booking and it was just a one night stay on a Saturday which is notoriously hard to get both so I didn't expect anything amazing but just wanted to let others know not all the rooms are that great. A mixed experience with good and bad points but I probably wouldn't book this hotel again unless I booked a better standard of room.
Room Tip: Rooms on back very quiet but not a great view but you can't have it all!
