“Stay anywhere but here...”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2012 via mobile

I didn't realise hotels like this still existed. Rude ignorant staff. Ironically they have an Investors in People plaque on the wall by reception. Boy do they need to invest some more in their staff! Room smelt, curtains hanging off the rail, bed mattress didn't fit the base and smelt musty. Really tatty decor in room. Breakfast was awful having been cooked and reheated under a grill totally indelible. The breakfast waiter was without the rudest man I have come across in a long time. Avoid this place at all costs for the money they charge it is nothing short of robbery.

“Fawlty Towers”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 January 2012

Creaky, dirty, not too dear for Brighton but far too dear for its standard.

No lifts, no wifi, 5 channels, stingy supplies in the bathroom, mouldy/damp walls in common areas.

Its sole advantage for me was being very close to Brighton & Hove Albion's ground, but the Albion have moved and the Preston Park hasn't.

There's a reason this hotel isn't a Ramada Jarvis anymore, well, tens of reasons more like.

“Very reasonable value for money but horrible food”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2012

Stayed for two nights rooms very clean and comfortable only difficulty was in getting to the room. Up and down many awkward stairs. Breakfast was just on the plus side of poor and dinner was disgusting. I would only go back if I was stuck but not to eat in.

“Hotel? I don't think so...”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 January 2012

How this place has the cheek to call itself a hotel I don't know. My room was cold, with a broken window. I couldn't hear the tv as the volume control wasn't working and was forced to have a bath as the shower was only trickling water...I suppose I should be grateful for the bath! I paid in advance for breakfast which the waiter disputed in the morning and insisted on writing me another bill - not a good start to the day. Glad to get home!

“Noisy, outdated, bad service”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 December 2011

Really bad service, don't stay there unless you really have to. There are other hotels nearby.
I usually stay in cheap hotels so I am not picky, but...
The property is old, which is ok, but it feels old inside as well. They haven't renovated for years.
I arrived late at night, about 11pm, checked-in, went to my room and there was this awful noise, looks like someone was repairing a bathroom or something. Really?? Do you HAVE to do this at 11pm??
You think you can relax watching TV? The TV only had 4 channels and was small and old.
The floor in the room was uneven for some unknown reason, and I could hear everything from the other rooms, just as if they were in MINE!
To top all these, I had asked to be waken up the next day at 7am, I was lucky to wake up on my own two hours later!! And when I complained downstairs, the only answer I got was "Oh sorry, I will check with the person on duty to find out what happened"
I don't care what happened, if you want me to come back...do something! If I had been there, I would have offered a discount for another night, or free breakfast, something! Avoid if you can!!
