“Appalling”

Customer service from 'gent' on reception was downright rude, it is not acceptable to shout at guests and reduce them to tears!. Hotel needs a complete refurb. old, tatty, smelly. Breakfast ingredients were as cheap as possible, thank god I didnt stay there for any other meal, it was not possible to order a simple pot of coffee, dining room was like a school canteen, staff looked miserable. Bedroom was freezing despite the air conditioning being on constantly for the 48 hour period. On the plus side, room was serviced well, clean linen, hoovered etc but old ill fitting furniture, mouldy seal around the bath, shower curtain rail hanging off ceiling, crack in the bath surround that had been gummed up with mastic. Guess what..... this was a upgraded disabled room as it had a jacuzzi! I would NEVER go again

Room Tip: Dont bother, book elsewhere

“AVOID ROOM195”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 February 2012

I stayed in room 195 to find it was the shape of a coffin and outside my bedroom window was a national express coach station 24 hours. That was low season. The Hotel was in a good location opposite the pier and near all the attractions. Dinner was entertainemnt in itself,3 courses help yoursel and most people had 2 starters,2 main courses,2 deserts and I could not face attempting the dessert. My gravy on my roast tasted of chilli sauce. Roast potatoes frequently ran out and were not roasted. The breakfast was an improvement but be sure to get there at 7am or you will find nothing left.Be warned the coffee is very bitter. However the staff were friendly and theshower in the room was very good. The bed was comfy, the decor, did not.match at alland thenet curtains had not seen an iron. No trouser press in the room as adverised. You need a sense of humour to stay there. Very amusing stay.

Room Tip: Avoid room195 shaped likea coffin with a coach station outside, you feel like you are sleeping in a c...

“Disappointed with our room”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

Paid extra for a 'superior' room. We had a seaview, but the window was very tiny and I noticed that many seaview rooms had larger windows, some with lovely bay windows. The room was clean, and the chambermaid changed our towels and made our bed, but very, very shabby and rather too cool for my taste. Horrid smell of cigarette smoke clung to the room and as ex-smokers we found this particularly unpleasant. However, the hotel is in an excellent position, the reception, bar and lounge were lovely. The breakfast room could have done with a little more tlc e.g. tablecloths. Breakfast was adequate, (would have liked some vegetarian sausage and/or mushrooms) although on our second morning, which was a Saturday, we had to queue for a table, which made us late checking out. We found all the staff to be extremely pleasant and helpful. Think we'll try a different Brighton hotel next time.

Room Tip: If paying extra for seaview ask for a big window!

“Absolutley terrible, worst hotel ever stayed in.”

Stayed for my husbands birthday, great location but that was the only good thing. Fire alams went off on Saturday evening, all I can say was thank god there wasn't a real fire, evacuation procedure was unbeleveable, staff not communicating with any of guest In fact girl on reception was still checking guest in while alarm still sounding, everyone just didn't have any idea what was going on. I had to question and I informed other guest what was happening. I think I could go on for ever with the faults in the hotel. I will just put our stay as an experience.
