“A satisfactory stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 May 2012 NEW

When I looked at the reviews a couple of days before I was due to arrive for a week's conference I was starting to wonder what I'd let myself in for. Fortunately using a few tips gleaned from this site and the fact I'm not expecting Hilton quality for £25 a night, I had a perfectly reasonable stay in a 6th floor room that you could see the sea from and as it was warm, I had the windows open throughout.
Yes it was a bit noisy at 3am on one of the nights (I stayed Sunday to Friday so missed the busiest time) and the council emptying the bottle bank at 6am was a shock, I didn't miss much sleep overall. The room was very clean particularly the en-suite and was kept this way each day.
Breakfast was satisfactory. The hot range was a bit limited but there were cereals, juice, yogurt, brown and white bread with various things to spread including honey and nutella and a coffee machine plus some Twinings teas including fruit, Earl Grey etc. (Note the room tea is Tetley). If you are organised, the stay can be really quite pleasant.
I'd probably avoid the weekend though. When I arrived Sunday late morning, there were lots of people checking out and piles of boxes of tins of beer and lager (undrunk) being carted off - must have been some weekend but I needn't have worried. The staff were pleasant enough and I really had no cause for complaint.
For anyone attending an event in the Brighton Centre, the location is un-matched and there are any number of places to eat within 5 minute walk of the front door and just about every cuisine too. Whilst I normally try to go for a hotel with a swimming pool, I would be prepared to stop here again as it is good value as long as you book early on the saver rate. Oh and both lifts worked and they had fixed the toaster too!

Room Tip: Try for floors 6 - 8, the quieter ones probably face North (Russell Road), the sea views face South...

“Pick a premier inn instead!!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 May 2012 NEW via mobile

Me and my partner stayed here for 3 nights at the end of may. Upon arrival the heating in the hotel was up full wack, we stayed during the heat wave. It was Absolutly unbareable!! Whilst waiting to check in I used the toilets in reception, VILE!! there was no toilet roll in ne of the cubicles, they were all filthy and looked like they hadnt been cleaned in a while. After using the reception toilets I was dreading our room. When we walked in the heat just hit us! We noticed the heater in the room was switched on n turned up high!! Baring in mind we went wen there was a heat wave like I said. The bedroom window opened about an inch. Pointless! Didn't let in ne air at all. We dreaded going back to the hotel after a day out due to the heat. It was awful!! Our room
Didn't have a remote control for the tv so asked at reception for another one, whilst my partner went downstairs to get one I was routing around the room looking for it. I stupidly looked under the bed, bad idea!!! The rooms are clearly not cleaned properly as there was all kinds of rubbish under there! Beds were not very comfy had 3 pillows for 2 of us??? What's that 1.5 each? The bathrooms were disgusting, u will feel the need to wear ur flip flops in there as u feel dirty even after showering no shower mat or anything so the bathroom gets soaked! No extractor fan so all steamy and damp. I know it's a budget hotel but seriously u expect it to b clean! N as for breakfast, don't bother paying extra for it. At £6-£7 per person it REALLY isn't worth it. There are some lovely little places along the front to get a fry up at bout £6. N it will b much much better. There was only scrambled egg, which was very very salty! Bacon beans n sausages. Cheap sausages too. The kind you wouldn't even feed a dog. Really would not recommend ne1 paying extra for it. The only good thing this hotel has to offer is the location. But again that could b a down point as it was very noisy. We got woke every night by noise outside or people coming in in the early hours slamming doors n shouting! I wouldn't book again that's for sure!

“No sleep at Travel Lodge”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 May 2012 NEW

I have stayed at Travel lodges before and have found them to be of a very good service with a comfortable bed, good nights sleep and good facilities. The Travel lodge in Brighton provided non of these things! Our bed was old, springy and very uncomfortable, our hotel was beside a night club and opposite other night clubs so we could hear loud music most of the night and early hours even on week days and could hear the loud noise of drunken celebrations very clearly from our bedroom which made sleeping very difficult. We also experienced a very noisey corridor where other residents kept slamming doors and shouting in the early hours which was not very pleasant and woke us up. The breakfast which we had to pay extra for was adequate however I found the customer service not very helpful and some not very friendly. On a postive note the hotel was close to the beach and brighton pier so not much of a walk however unless you are planning a hen do and want to be drunk or out all the time I would not reccomend this hotel!

“Value for Money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 May 2012 via mobile

I have one criticism and that is there is no left luggage facility. That said, great staff clean comfy rooms and very affordable. If you want a Ritz Hotel experience then book the Ritz Hotel and pay their prices.

“No sleep, lumpy beds, tired shower”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 May 2012

Just spent 2 nights at Brighton Seafront Travelodge. It was the worst 2 nights I have had in a long while. The bed was lumpy, the pillows were about 2 cms thick. The shower room was tired looking and really needs updating. I know not to expect luxury at a Travelodge but this is one of the worst I have stayed in.

Also because our room overlooked the main road, albeit 7 floors up, we could hear the noise of the revellers outside so did not get to sleep until the early hours and then got woken up by banging doors of later arrivals.

Not to be recommended and I certainly shan't be returning.

Room Tip: If you do stay here, ask for a room not overlooking the main road as it is very noisy.
