The hotel was better than expected, having paid a very small amount for the accommodation I was not expecting too much, however it turned out to be a quiet and comfortable stay in an old hotel. Perhaps in need of a makeover but still adequate.

We stayed at this hotel on New Years Eve and had a brilliant time! We were given room 3 which is a fantastic large room with a fireplace, it had a modern but really homely feel to it. The room was very quiet and clean. The Receptionist was friendly also along with the bar staff. Although we were not joining their special event they still made us feel welcome and gave us canapes in the bar before we ventured out for the evening! The hotel is only a 5-10 minute walk from the town centre. Overall we were impressed and will be sure to go back one day.

Having read some of the comments on this hotel I did wonder what my room would be like.
I was given room number 2 a pleasant double room overlooking the road, the double glazing was excellent so no road noise noticed.
The room and bathroom were clean with plenty of cosumables and good quality towls. My only observation was that the dressing table/desk was on the small size. Otherwise I was completely satisfied with the accomodation.
Dinner, I took the DB&B package and I had a satisfying meal in the clean and well presented dinning room.
From my experience at this hotel I will gladly return. I found the room, dinner and breakfast very pleasant

Hotel a bit tired, vbut rooms good and clean. The breakfat was good, if a little pricey. They did have a swimming pool but did not use it. It is very conveniant for Shaftesbury, and hotel staff were helpfull and friendly.
