“Nothing bad to say”

My boyfriend and I bought 2 nights B&B on a deal website and stayed there this weekend. I can honestly say that I have nothing bad to say about the place. We were warmly greeted, the room was a good size and clean, the bathroom was clean with good water pressure in the shower. The bed was SO comfortable, towels nice etc. The breakfast was delicious. Really enjoyed our stay and we will be returning! Thank you so much for a very pleasant stay.

Room Tip: room 12 is good if you are happy with a shower only

“A lovely relaxing weekend”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012 via mobile

My wife and I thought we would recapture our youth and have a weekend in Bournemouth, we chose the cavendish based on a personal Reccomendation, Tim and Karen were extremely welcoming and our room was very clean and comfortable. The hotel is well situated for a walk into town and only 5 mins walk from the beach , Tim and Karen reccomended an Italian restaurant round the corner called Pinnochio where we had a fantastic meal On the Saturday night (try the Steak) followed by Tims eggs benedict (superb) on the Sunday morning and a much needed walk along the beach.
We will definitely be going back very friendly and excellent value

“Fantastic!”

I arrived at the cavendish early morning a couple of weeks ago, on a work related trip. Both Tim and Karen were very sincere and friendly people making me feel very welcome immediately! it already seemed as though nothing would be too much trouble from for either of them. My room was clean and comfortable... Towels folded & plenty of space. Decorated to a professional finish, & the free use of wifi was an excellent extra. Breakfast was also brilliant! Plenty to chose from & to be perfectly honest the best I've had in a BB... hot, fresh, just how you'd imagine. I really enjoyed my stay at the cavendish, & id most definitely return in the near future!

“New Years Eve Plus Business”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

My wife and I stayed at this location with six of our friends on New Years Eve. We arrived very early and was greeted by Karen, who was great, she straight away made us feel very welcome and told us of things to do in the area and good places to eat. Although very early Karen told us to bring all our luggage in and made a room available for us also letting us leave the cars in the hotels private car park, this I thought was very thoughtful.
We returned later and was met by Tim, Karen's husband who was also very welcoming, he asked us about our day and what we had planned for the evening while giving us the keys to our rooms. The rooms were very clean and comfortable.
The breakfast was great, loads to choose from, and plenty of it! the locally made sausages are a must to try if you visit. all the staff were so helpful. They even offered us bucks fizz to celebrate New Years Day!
I have since returned for business reasons and my stay was just as enjoyable.

“10th anniversary break with young sons”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2012

A mixed review which is disappointing, reading recent postings from others.

Positive:

Karen friendly and made an effort with our young sons at breakfast time, saving our youngest's special cereal to make sure we had it for the following day. She also dried out our eldest's trousers and snow boots after they got wet on the beach.

Nicely laid out bed with towels - but not sure about two white plastic coat hangers on the top !

Breakfast - nice and hot. Good selection. Great to have a big decanter of fresh ground coffee, attentive - asking if more toast needed etc. Pot of tea day 2 luke warm. Nice to have some colouring books to hand and small toys for the children whilst we finished our own breakfast, always a challenge for parents !

Really appreciate off road parking and free Wi-fi.

Up to date ladies mags in reception a nice touch to borrow.

Negative:

I pre-arranged a late arrival and rang an hour away from Bournemouth. Karen said she had been trying to get hold of us as 8pm is cut off time unless pre-arranged. She had no recollection of our conversation or even speaking to me at all - asking who I spoke to. They key was left secure so we could gain access at 9.45pm. We returned home to find an answerphone message at 8pm saying they were waiting for us to arrive and also an email stating the same, reminding us we should have been there at 8pm

Room dated and finishings cheaply done. Lamp shade next to bed was loose and not fitted correctly. Arm on chair had a 2" tear with stuffing coming out of it - cotton end arm covers were put over to hide it. Rusty plug hole in sink, bath chipped and dented on side, shower screen did not fit flush to the bath, plug broken from chain, tile on bath held on by masking tape, fittings of radiator to wall dusty and not cleaned, black mould present in bathroom and bedroom, grouting and finishing to tiles very badly done. The shower was attached to the taps and the temperature was very tempermental. As someone put in an earlier posting ....
"a good shower is a must for a weekend away", sadly this was not the case in our room, having to shower using one hand, so you had a hand free to keep adjusting the water.

Our bed was very soft and we did not sleep very well at all.

The first morning was the first time we met Karen and we were treated as if she had seen us before - was not asked if we had a good trip even. it would just been nice to have had a formal welcome.

There was no recognition of our 10th wedding anniversary even though I stated it on my on-line booking which was sad really.

It took 20 mins to check out. Karen did say she was only helping Tim in the kitchen and would have come if she had known. However, when we left our room next to the reception (Room 1), the bell went and we heard her say 'Not the bell again, I only have one pair of hands, can't do everything'. After that we did not dare ring the bell and whilst we waited 2 members of staff walked past us and didn't ask if they could help, my husband had to ask them to get Karen as we were waiting to pay.

This was to be a very special weekend for us, but sadly it turned out to be an average stay away.

I was in two minds whether to post a review, but the way our arrival time was handled and the communication when we returned prompted me to feedback a truthful report of our stay. There was no point in complaining whilst there as decorative issues are not something that can be put right.

Dear Madam

Obviously we are dissapointed with your review, especially after my wife had done so much for you, if people would have looked after my young children in the same way as my wife did yours, nothing else would have mattered. we were not your cup of tea, so be it we cannot please everyone, but we give it a dam good try. you were upset with the check in, ok point taken, and we have said sorry for that, but then to nit pick and post a review out of revenge is not on, its a sad reflection on fellow countrmen.
