“Britannia Clean Up Your Act Worst Food Ever Presentation of a Dogs Dinner”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

On Business terrible food and service in restaurant,we run food establishments all over the UK and wouldnt dare offer service like this, warm food thrown into servery that looked like sick or re heated food, not one member of staff ever checked the temperature of food on the servery while we were in the dining room .We did complain to staff who were not expierenced and didnt know what to do,although offered apologies and slagged off their own bosses.Since staying there and discussing further with my wife we have decided to take on Britannia Hotels so we have made a formal complaint to Bournemouth Council and even removed part of our dinner (it shouldnt be called dinner though)for sampling for bacteria. If this is one Hotel whats the others like,As for value it sounds good but you cannot offer value by cutting staff costs and going for the cheapest products something has got to give and in this group of Hotels it is quality that they fail to deliver.Having read other reviews they seem to get a lot of complaints ref. food ,dirty rooms and service etc.We are meeting with watchdog next week to discuss further.Remember cheap is not always value when your throwing up.

“The worst hotel I have ever stayed in.”

We arrived after a long coach ride, tired and in need of a wash and brush up only to find our room was filthy, the bathroom so dirty I could not bring myself to use it. When I complained the reception staff said would get it "recleaned". The dining room was no better, the food was cold, inedible and very basic (reminded me of bad school dinners). All in all a horrible place with surly, rude and badly trained staff. We will never go there again.

Room Tip: Try another hotel and look at this website first.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I wish we had.

“Standards have certainly slipped....”

I booked this hotel online; myself and my partner have stayed both here and the roundhouse for many years and wanted to return here for our anniversary... we wished we hadn't. Our last visit to this hotel a couple of years ago was a great experience, however things have changed. We arrived at the hotel after a 4 hour drive and the car park was full. We eventually found a side road to park down and made our way into the hotel. The reception was clean and looked as though it had been refurbished. After checking in things started to go wrong. Myself and my partner both of slight stature, along with one small case and a rucksack attempted to get into the smallest lift with no avail so used the stairs. Not a huge problem for us as we are fairly fit and were only on the first floor, however those less fit and on a higher floor would have had a problem. We got to our room. Where do I start? The room was filthy, stank of smoke. I ventured into the bathroom - this was covered in mould. There was a hair on the toilet seat, the glasses covered in toothpaste and the shower mat was black and orange with mould??! Back into the bedroom the windows were in such bad repair that you could hear everything going on outside. The whole room looked like it hadn't seen a lick of paint for year’s holes in the wall and chipped skirting boards. To be honest we wouldn’t have minded if the room was just tatty and dated however it was dirty and I had the feeling that using the shower would have actually have made me more dirty.
We decided that we weren't going to stay here more really for hygiene reasons. I went down to the reception and informed the nice man on reception, who didn't offer me another room, just a refund so I accepted this and we made alternative accommodation arrangements.
All negatives are about the hotel and NOT the staff - both the staff members I encountered were helpful and understanding. Will never stay in a Britannia Hotel again.

Room Tip: Avoid room 127
