Arranged a dinner dance weekend-great setting with plenty of space for 100 of us, Used all rooms, renovated rooms spacious but all clean and comfortable. 'Extra' guests accommodated in Cottonwood hotel. ~Staff lovely, especially Greg & Tatiana and ample food, lovely dance floor & good disco. Would recommend & use again, only criticism is had to order 'real ale' in and this ran out!!

My boyfriend and I stayed in a first floor room, with a sea view. The double room was spacious but outdated - apparently it's undergoing rennovation. The bed was comfortable, but clearly two single mattresses joined together which was occasionally less comfortable! The bathroom is a greatt size, but the shower is far too low - I'm only 5'4 but the shower was at the level of my chin! Also, the shower screen isn't level with the bath so there is a gap for water to escape - the wooden bath panelling is rotting in places and the carpet was damp. Why put carpet in a bathroom?! The staff were very friendly, and for only £35 it was a bit of a bargain!

Good Points:
We used a voucher for our stay here, so the price was very good. Bournemouth is a lovely seaside town and this hotel is pretty central, so that too was very good. The view from the window was excellent - we had a sea view. I found the staff friendly and helpful and I slept well - there was practically no noise discernible.

Not So Good:
As others have noted, the hotel is being renovated, so some of the décor was a bit dated. The lift was rather Hercule Poirot - very small, with a door you have to close yourself. It's a bit like shutting yourself in a cupboard. Breakfast in the morning was a bit hit-and-miss, there wasn't enough fruit juice, there was no porridge (despite it being on the menu), and there seemed to be too few waiting staff. the bathroom was just like a partition built into a large bedroom, although the facilities were fine.

Overall, the Ocean View has promise and despite a few niggles, I would return again.

We spent a week at Ocean View with our two grandchildren. The staff, from management to cleaners was so courteous and helpful, even with our grandchildren. The atmosphere was happy and cheerful. Waitresses, bar staff, reception and management are all to be commended. I would also like to compliment the chefs on the excellent meals at breakfast and also the evening meals we had at The Cottonwood Garden Restaurant. Our bed linen was good and the room was cleaned and kept tidy everyday. We realised the hotel was under new ownership and refurbishment was underway. Measurements for curtain replacements in our room were made. I personally found the lounge/bar decor more tasteful than the Cottonwood bar. Location ideal for views and walks. Would use hotel again.
