“Fantastic Hotel with Fantastic staff serving amazing Food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 January 2011

Just breturned from a new year trip to the woodcroft Hotel.FANTASTIC.
The staff were excellent the rooms were spotless and the food was Fantastic.
As a hotelier for over 20 years I could not find fault.
As for the poor reviews I feel sure that this hotel is cleaner than 'the little welsh and others besides squat in.
Some guests were trying to pay deposits for new year 2011 to ensure a place.
Karen ,Marcel and team THANK YOU

“You get far less for what you pay for here - outdated, unclean, tiny rooms!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 December 2010

We paid £50 for a double room including breakfast which isn't bad for Bournemouth. However despite paying a low price guests still deserve some basic forms of service. Our room was tiny, you could barely swing a cat! The whole room is completely outdated with mishmash wooden rickety old furniture thrown in for good measure. The tv is about as big as my head and the lights only fully switch on after a good 5 minutes of annoying flickering. The bedding was made up of the usual starched white linens followed by two woolen and stained pink granny/hospital blankets and all topped off with what looked like a curtain with corners. Above the bed is a strange control box for the tv and lights that doesn't even work. The bathroom - pink woodchip walls - is a whole other story. The bathroom fixtures, towel rail and loo roll holder, were hanging off the wall. Both taps in the sink ran hot water. The shower had hairs (not mine!) On the base unit. Overall it was faul. For some reason the heating was on during the day and switched off at night leaving for a very chilly sleep. The hotel bar didn't seem to be open - this was a saturday night - but the receptionist still served us drinks however did ask us if we'd like the red or white shiraz (?!). After a bad nights sleep we ventured downstairs for an average cookd breakfast and cheap accompaniments including tinned pineapple and coco pops. Overall the hotel is run down, badly managed and cheap. You don't get value for money, you actually get ripped off. Keep looking when searching for a stay in Bournemouth.

“Too loud to sleep, dated: don't bother”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 September 2010

We had three rooms at the Woodcroft on a Friday night in early September 2010. The location was fine as we were staying in Bournemouth to catch the ferry very early on the Saturday from Poole. On arriving we asked at reception to collect the key for the third room as the last part of our family party had not yet arrived; this request was refused and the staff seemed generally suspicious of us, asking who we were several times, looking for our bookings for ages and demanding car number plates two or three times.

This wasn't too worrying as it was a cheap enough place to sleep prior to our journey; however the rooms were very dated and naff looking. My mother's room was right over the kitchen and stank of cigarette smoke when we entered and all the water in all three rooms ran hot (yes, that included the cold water taps running hot!) and the showers/bath water was so hot it was close to scalding.

Again, these were all annoying things but could have been ignored pretty much but the reason I would not recommend this hotel nor ever stay there again was the huge level of noise all night long. There was a large wedding taking place during the afternoon with lots of drinking and swearing during the photos outside our window. This was the best part, it later turned out: the disco was so loud that you could clearly hear it even with the TV on and turned up, it was boomingly loud with the TV off with a constant noise of bass like someone thumping your wall repeatedly; the smokers coming out of the disco shouted, sang and argued right under our window all night; it was a hot evening, but we had to close our window due to the disco and smokers making our room too hot; large groups of young men banged around and shouted in the hallways (just outside our paper thin doors) outside of both my husband and I's room and my mother's a floor below - this carried on until 04:00am and we had to be up at 05:30am so we hardly got any sleep meaning the stay at the hotel was pointless.

Thankfully we left to early to be subject to the breakfast, but I would strongly suggest you avoid this hotel at the weekend as if they have a wedding reception you won't be getting any rest. We were not warned when we booked or when we arrived of the wedding party, nor were we all placed together away from the guests and reception, we were both nextdoor to parties of very loud, drunk guests who partied in to the early hours. Shocking stay; avoid.
