“quiet & relaxing!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 October 2011

Really enjoyed our stay in this quiet, relaxing and very pleasant hotel. Very welcoming and attentive hosts. Extremely clean, quite roomy except for the en-suite (a little tight). Food is excellent, good value for money and a nice menu. The present owners have only taken over this hotel recently and obviously there is some updating and decorating needs doing which I'm sure is on the agenda. However, it's a lovely location and only a short walk to the town. Would definately recommend a visit

Thanks for those kind comments. We try our best to be welcoming and attentive as that is one of the few advantages we can have over the larger hotels which we are situated next to. I agree with your comment re. the en-suite, out of our 6 rooms the one you were in was the smallest. The bathrooms in our Superior Rooms all have baths and are therefore, that much bigger. (Standard Rooms only have a shower cubicle)
Decorating and updating is definitely on the agenda for these coming winter months, but, as mentioned in the previous review, we will ensure we retain the old character of this Victorian building.

“great place,full of history”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 August 2011

Stayed 17-21 Aug. Very enjoyable stay, great food, place was full of history.Whilst enjoying very good meals,my eye`s were drawn to the excellent coving and panelling and fireplaces. Please do not change the wonderful character of this house/hotel.To the new owners, best of luck with updating of facilities, but keep the history. Thanks again,
PeteAllen

Thanks for all the compliments. This is the first review posted since we (the new owners) have taken over the Hotel. It is pleasing to know that we are doing things the right way.
And, rest assured, I shall endeavour to ensure the character of the building is retained whenever we do anything within the Hotel.
For anyone worried that, as new owners, the standard of the Hotel (and its good reviews) will not be retained, I can assure them that we aspire to maintain the same standards as the previous owners. During August, we have had 4 lots of guests who had previously stayed here, and all have complimented us on the continuation of these high standards.

“Nice guest house to use as a base in Bournemouth”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 August 2011

We had stayed at the East Cliff Cottage a couple of years ago and booked to stay again a few months ago. Initally, I was quite dissapointed on arrival to be told the hotel had been taken over by new management and we had not been contacted about this. The new owners were very welcoming as they had not run a guest house before but they made us feel very comftoable. We had booked the superior family room, a very spacious room but in need of a little loving care and touch ups. There was no dressing table stool, which I found annoying as I had to kneel or stand to do my hair and make up. The bathroom needs a towel rail to hand the wet and dry towels. The bed linen could do with some new sheets and definitley some new pillows. Breakfast was great, good service and very enjoyable . This a very good family value hotel to visit the beach and walk into Bournemouth. We wish the new owners lots of luck in their new venture and hope one day to visit again.

An honest review and one we entirely agree with. There are already new pillows and new duvets in some of the rooms. Rest assured there will be new throughout the Hotel before long. I completely agree with the TLC required, but as we moved in at the end of July, August isn't the time to be giving it. Over the winter months, lots of TLC will be given throughout the Hotel.
Its a shame you did not mention the lack of a stool when you first noticed it as I could have easily rectified that for the rest of your stay.
We look forward to welcoming you back one day. :-)

“Loved It & will be back!!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 July 2011

My fiancée & I stayed at East Cliff cottage hotel in June 2011 to celebrate our engagement.

On planning our engagement, prior to proposing on the beach earlier on in the day, I had arranged with Chris & Alan to purchase a bottle of champagne to serve with dinner. On arrival they kept the whole event secret from my fiancée & were most helpful & attentive during the meal.
We just loved the hotel, as Chris & Alan the owners were absolutely delightful, as they make you feel at home, having a friendly chat with you if time permits.
The dinner is just out of this world, a fine dining experience on par with the finest of restaurants, always arriving hot and plentiful. Breakfast, was a delight, with plenty to choose from.
We ate their on both nights, as we have eaten there previously (without staying there), enjoyed it so much, we came back & stayed at the hotel.
The room was superbly decorated, as we had a double superior, we both enjoyed the roll top bath, how wonderful it was to relax in it.
The hotel has plenty of character to it – DEFINITELY HOME FROM HOME!!!!.
Great place to celebrate a special occasion.
As hosts, Alan & Chris are irreplaceable.
Genuinely lovely warm people.
We shall be back time & time again, The place is a little gem, priceless!!!!

“Great stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 July 2011

We stayed at the East Cliff Cottage hotel when going to a family wedding nearby. The location was great - quiet street but very close to the beach. We had a big family room at the back which was very quiet & had a ginormous bath which I'm sure we could all fit in! The bed was also huge, and comfortable and we slept really well. Breakfast was very good & staff were very helpful throughout our stay. We would recommend the hotel & would definitely stay there again.
