“Do Not Stay at this hotel!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

Both my partner and I arrived at the hotel at 1800 hrs on this day, and found that the room we had booked was incorrect. When queried at the reception, we were told that it as listed was a Twin Room, even though we had specifically asked for a Double. We were then told that there were no other rooms made up at the time and had to use the twin room.

Shortly after this, we had to leave for a commitment, but upon our return at we noticed the following - Stains on the Bedding,
Stains on the wall and door that looked like blood! A broken plug socket (dangerous!) , A loose television bracket.
Dirty / Damp bathroom, including a toilet that smelt absolutely repulsive, smear marks all over the bathroom shelf that didn't look like it had been cleaned.

When complaining to the reception, we were offered another room?? how can this be, when we asked for another room prior to this!

Both my partner and were so disgusted by this hotel that we returned home that night and refused to stay. We wished we had read the reviews prior to this, and think ourselves lucky that we didn't stay to try the food in the morning! There are much better hotels in Bournemouth, do not be tempted by the low cost of this hotel!

Room Tip: There is no good room.

“hotel from hell”

We booked this hotel with David Urquart travel as a New year break, and I think one of their employees should sample what the hotel is really like!
We were supposed to have a welcome drink however the hotel management decided to withdraw this offer, this was only the beginning, the following day they weren't going to provide lunch until the coach driver complained and we were given soup with a crust of sour cream on top.

Our room was like large cupboard, furnished with mismatched furniture and army slyle blankets on the beds. The bedding was never changed nor the towels in the 4 days we were there. The bins weren't emptied for 2 days.An antiquated t.v was so high on the wall you needed binoculars to see it.

The bathroom smelled disgusting, we had to clean the shower head before we could use it and the shower kept going off .

The food was unacceptable, cold.poor quality and still partially frozen at times.

The hotel was used y foreign students coming and going at all times.

We came with friends to celebrate the new year , what a disappointment and complete waste of money.

Room Tip: Stay somewhere else

“The Hotel from Hell”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 December 2011

My mother stayed at this hotel for one night only. She was originally booked in for longer but found that she could no longer endure the nightmare she was experiencing. Food was mediocre as was service. The room was to say the least was spartan and tatty and on the top floor, the lift was not working, not a good thing for an 85 year old lady. Staff attitude was - uninterested. Needless to say she will never darken their door again. This coupled with a never to be repeated experience with the coach company TRAVELSTYLE added up to a disappointing holiday. In fact a complete waste of money. Don't stay here!!!

“Good value budget hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 November 2011

I stayed during half-term with my two children in a triple room. The room/bathroom was very clean and tidy and could not really fault it given the very reasonable price I paid for DB&B. The food provided was very good particularly the breakfast, offering full english, toast, yoghurts, fruit, etc. I have read other comments and can advise that students staying in the hotel were a small number of mature spanish students, studying at a nearby language school, they did not make any noise or disturb us during our visit. Mandy the Manager was very helpful and so were all the other staff. If you are wanting to stay in the centre of Bournemouth and you are on a budget I would recommend this hotel without hesitation.
