Our family group stayed at the hotel, and we all enjoyed the hotel facilities. The rooms were all extremely comfortable with no noise from nearby bars. The breakfast and evening meal was also excellant. We found all the staff helpful, and the hotel is also well located with on-site parking. In addition the 1812 bar also provided a good place for getting together for a drink.

My husband and I stayed at the Royal Exeter Hotel, and I have to say that I was obviously in a different hotel to the last person who reviewed. I don't think that the hotel is worn, the 1812 coctail bar and restaurant is lovely and our room was great, the bed was huge and very comfortable. The staff in the bar were second to none and the food in the restaurant excellent. As for the breakfast, with so much to choose from, I'm astounded that anyone could find fault.

I'm not sure also how a hotel can be judged by what surrounds it, but considering the hotel is 2 minutes from the beach and 2 minutes from the BIC, the location is perfect.

Thanks to all of the staff at the hotel, we had a great time.

This review may sound very picky but this hotel didn't come up to the mark.

A good location spoiled by the grotty kebab shop and chip bar around the corner. The hotel has seen better days and the staff were pretty disinterested. There was ashow on in the Conference Centre over the road on the night that we stayed and as a result we could not use the bar and didn't get much sleep either due to the noise.

The breaksfast was not very apertising, swimming in grease.

Unfortunately we only stayed here for one night but will definitely return! The room was clean and comfortable and not noisy despite there being two bars attached to the hotel. The only noise that woke us were the seagulls at daybeak as we had our window open! There was tea and coffee making facilities in the room and how nice it was to see a sufficient supply of milk! Nice shampoo and shower gel provided and plenty of it. The breakfast was lovely - choice of juices, fresh fruit, cereals, dried fruit, cheeses, ham pastries, full English, or a choice off the menu; including kippers. As much toast, tea or coffee as you like and all served by a very pleasant member of staff. In fact all the staff we came across were very helpful. We ate on the terrace at Bar So in the sunshine and the food was very nice. We also drank there on the night and had a very enjoyable evening where they played some great music and we were served by some very hard working bar tenders in this very lively bar. The hotel itself is very central with the shops, beach, pier and gardens all being within very easy walking distance. We parked our car on arrival (too early to check in but were allowed to leave our car) in the secure car park and didn't return to it until we were leaving the following afternoon. We did intend using the leisure facilities but the weather was so glorious it seemed a shame to waste it by spending time in a gym (but it looked okay)! We have been regular visitors to Bournemouth over the last few years (daughter at uni) and we have stayed at several of the hotels there and can honestly say this has been the best!
