“Beautiful area, but expecting a bit more...”

I stayed at the Chine during a weekend trip to Bournemouth with my mum and it was good value for the price, but I couldn't help but feel disappointed. The good stuff - the garden and pool area are really beautiful and it's a lovely 5 minute walk to get down to the beach. We ate in the bar area (you need to make a reservation in advance for the restaurant) where the decor was cute, staff very friendly, but the food was nothing to write home about. The rooms also were a bit lackluster, but were clean and comfortable. The so-called "pamper-pack" was a complete rip-off so save your money. All in all, I think there are better options in Bournemouth, but was not a bad experience.

“wish i could go again!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2012

We only stayed for the one night ut wished we could have stayed for more. The staff were very helpful, friendly and approachable. Our room was warm and comfortable - the only thing that wasn't so good was we couldnt get any hot water out the shower/bath so had to have a quick cold shower in the morning.
But on the whole a good stay would recommend it to other people. (so long as they looked into the water problem)

“Reminds me why i love England...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

I arrived to a beautiful and warm reception. Nothing was too much trouble. I walked into my room, with beautiful wide windows and a gorgeous view of the ocean! My complimentary upgrade was actually a king size, and the breakfast was varied and HOT!
Made my birthday weekend one of the best ever!

“Well worth trying”

Just returned from a 1 night stay. They were advertising a very good price to the end of Jan.
Hotel is situated in a wonderful location overlooking Bournemouth bay.The hotel comprises the main building and several differant buildings next door. Ours was connected to the main building
by an inside walkway but be warned part of this access is by alot steps down and steps up There is no lift for this area. Being partly disabled is was a real struggle to get up the stairs
Alternatively you can reach the main building by the road which is on the level. Not desirable if it raining or very cold as it was last night.
Car parking is quite limited and when the hotel is full, guests would end up parking way up the road.
The room we had overlooked the garden and was generally in good shape however the carpet was a bit grubby in places and the window frames were due a repaint Our room had a really super bathroom. The room was very well heated.
We had an evening meal in the main restuarent. The food was excellant and portion size was very good.Breakfast was in the same restuarent and in daylight you had wonderful views of the huge garden and sea views Plenty of choice but cooked options could have been hotter. We were told they had run out of little pots of marmalade!!!!!! That's a first time thats ever happened in all the hotels we have stayed at.
Overall we felt we had good value for money and as 3 star hotels go we consider that it offered a higher standard than similar rated hotels.

Room Tip: Worth paying extra for a sea view with balcony particularly if your having a long stay in the summer...

“The food was better than Jamie Olivers restaurant we dined at last week.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 January 2012

We only booked in at the chine for one night on our road trip. We had enjoyed previous stays but this was my daughter and grandson's first time. The food was so incredible and good quality for our grandson we decided to stay for 4 nights and enjoy the wonderful location, happy and helpful staff. On our second night we chose to have room service and it was first class. Thank you to the amazing chefs for their quality food that made us stay on extra and relax. the whole hotel is kept well and the gorgeous gold gated lift is a wonderful reminder of the quality and craftsmanship which is sadly lost in our modern world. A great bonus was also the cheaper deal due to January sales. A total enjoyable WIN WIN for us. Beautiful gardens and I can write this in peace and quiet as daughter and grandson are enjoying the swimming pool and indoor play. Bliss
