We spent four nights over Christmas as part of a coach party. We had full board and many extras including nightly entertainment, a visit to the local pantomime and a mystery drive around the Purbeck Hills. There was some spare time to visit the nearby beach and Bournemouth shops. The food was fantastic! Full breakfast every day and lunch and dinner comprised anything up to four or even five courses. A great selection of piping hot food, well cooked by a caring and brilliant chef. The service was great too with food arriving within a few minutes of ordering even though the hotel was full. I have not had such good food in a British seaside hotel before!
The lounge and bar were well furnished and very popular with the guests. There was also a full size snooker table and a table tennis table in the basement. Our bedroom was satisfactory for this sort of visit although the bathroom was tight for space and with very 1970s fittings. The beds were good but we would have preferred duvets to the sheets and blankets provided which were restrictive and somewhat uncomfortable. The heating was good although not really need as the weather was unseasonably warm and we were glad that we could open a window. The carpet was clean but looked due for replacement. The analogue TV is due for replacement soon. The hotel is in a side road and although we were on the front, there was little or no noise from the outside. Inside the walls did allow some intrusion of noise from the room on one side but this did not spoil our sleep. Overall it was a very pleasant stay.
Room Tip: We were on the 3rd floor which has modern UPVC windows which were easy to open and adjust.
