“Do not have a bath”

I booked this hotel as after reading all the bad reviews thought how could it really be that bad.

the room and bath room were very clean and as it was -5 outside the heating was on full and the room was very warm and cosy.

Had no problems at all until I decided to take a bath in the morning, switched on the taps and what a shock, the water came out a yellow colour with strange black lumps in it, I thought this must have been in the bath so took the plug out and drained it away. Again came out yellow with even bigger lumps. There was no way I was going to bathe in that, complained at reception and was offered a laughable 10% discount, overheard at least 3 other people with the same problem.

The saying goes you get what you pay for, but at the Heathlands you certainly get alot more for your money

“Desperately in need of some TLC”

Have just returned from a four night break at this hotel travelling with Just Go holidays. We were first allocated a double bedroom that was so small we asked if we could be moved. The reception staff were most accommodating and moved us to a room at the front of the building, laughingly called an executive room. The room was warm but cleaning was not a number one priority. The room had, in places, been redecorated but the bathroom had not. The large mirror in the bathroom was dirty and the air filter in the bathroom was in desperate need of cleaning.

The meals in the restaurant were quite good and seemed to be enjoyed not only by us but by quite a large number of the other guests.

Would I recommend this hotel, certainly not. We travel a lot and this is the poorest accommodation we have experienced in a very long time.

“Tired, jaded and verging on scruffy.”

Like a previous reviewer we were at the Heathlands on a Just Go coach holiday. As regular coach holiday travellers this was our first experience of Just Go and sadly may be our last if this is the standard of hotel they normally use.
Our room was large and on the front with a bay window but the curtains had come off their hooks and had not been put back giving the appearance of being in a second class squat. The carpet was dirty and had not been vacuumed before we arrived. It was so bad that I asked that it be cleaned which was done but only to a certain degree. The peanut kindly left by the previous occupant between the television and the table with the kettle on was still there when we left ! Flat surfaces had coffee cup marks and had not been wiped down.
The bathroom was as clean as it could be bearing in mind it was old and stained although the previous occupants shower gel had not been removed from by the shower.
Our room was warm and the bed was clean id a little hard for me. Others in the hotel had no heating in the rooms so we were lucky.
The dining room was very cold, especially for breakfast and I left my 'nice' clothes in the wardrobe at evening meal time and appeared in fleece and other warm attire.
On a positive note we were very happy with the food and the amount of choices and the staff were cheerful and very helpful, particularly in the dining room. The bar was expensive with a gin and tonic and a cider costing in excess of £8.
Being able to use the pool and sauna at the neighbouring Brittania was a bonus but they charged £4 each.
The fire alarm going off in the night was a nuisance as was the power cut. This ageing hotel seems unable to function efficiently during the winter. As many of its guests were pensioners like ourselves this was not good. We wouldn't return to the Heathlands and are reviewing whether we want to risk another JustGo holiday.

“I travel a lot the worst do not waste your money you have been warned .”

Where do I start - No heating they knew this when I checked in but just forgot to mention it! The hotel was freezing and no offer of a heater was made. The room does not even have a table to write on and the TV is so small you need a magnifying glass to see it. It is not evev mounted on the wall just on a chair.

The room was filthy and the toilet area yellow where it should be white. Clearly they have a few good rooms for certainn guestes

The water from the hot tap came out with bits in it.

The previous review is WHOLLY accurate if you go there you will be sorry. Bournemouth has some very lovely hotels you really just need to avoid this run down hotel. A total waste of money and one of the recipionists did not even care. You get the impression they know how bad it is .

Oh and if you pay by credit card they charge you £2 what for - ask them.

Room Tip: Avoid Room 247 and probably the whole hotel

“Don't do it - save your money”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

Just returned from a 4 day break to this hotel with just go holidays. Asked for quiet room was allocated 137. Room had no heating, a greenhouse type oil filled radiator was supplied but did not warm the room at all. The window faced onto the Queens hotel extractor system and constantly hummed apart form every 15 minutes when it made a noise like a aircraft waiting for take off. The bathroom was beyond tired with tepid cold water and tepid hot water and a neglected stained toilet. Day 2 the fire alarm rang 4 times twice in the afternoon and twice at 1am and 1.30am [the room is next door to the fire escape should you need a quick get away!!!] the management said this was because a guest had tampered with the smoke detector in a bedroom [you need a stepladder to reach the high ceilings] Day 3 the electricity was off in our 'wing' for 2 hours - apparently because people wanted to use the heaters and the surge had tripped the power. Food was adequate but the dining room was always cold. The reception staff were attentive, helpful and not interested. Basil Fawlty would have been proud of them!!! Save your money, everyone on our coach was dissatisfied.
