“Gold Service”

We have just spent a wonderful Friday/Saturday at the Langtry Manor. Here are a few of our thoughts:
Reception: Made to feel very welcome as soon as we stepped in the door. Friendly, smartly attired staff who were extremely helpful. Our receptionist (one of two at the time) escorted us across to the .......
Gold Cup Room: Wow, a lovely room, exactly as described. Very plush furnishings, nicely decorated. The double jacuzzi is out of this world and really is big enough for two (other hotels describe theirs as a double when they are in fact a large single). One piece of advice we would like to offer is allow plenty of time to fill it (probably a good half hour) but after that you won't want to get out out. Room comes with tea/coffee making facilities and a mini bar. Bathroom immaculate although the very large walk in shower could have done with a tad more water pressure, but maybe that's just us. Very large flat screen TV with dvd player (dvd's are available in reception) plus ipod dock and radio. In the evening we dined in the .....
Restaurant: Wonderful food, wonderful service. We were again made to feel very special. We were celebrating a wedding anniversary and the staff presented us with a few extra surprises (no detail here as it may ruin somebody elses surprise if you are visiting). Complimentary champagne before we dined. After dining, we retired to the bar for more drinks whilst relaxing beside the real fire.
Also worthy of a mention is the fact that we stayed during the very cold snap (we woke to minus 10 on the Saturday) but not once did we feel cold within the hotel.
Overall, we were very impressed with the quality and service at this delightful hotel and would have no hesitation in recommending it to anybody else, particularly if you are looking for a romantic break.

“Nice surroundings, quality breakfast and approachable staff.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

Had a two night voucher (which was already at a discounted rate) for a stay at the Lodges, however we were given an upgrade to The Disraeli suite (much appreciated!!). This was better as one of us has a disability, and going over to the main hotel for breakfast in the cold was something we were not looking forward to. For disabled visitors, The suite is not advertised as suitable for disabled guests - this reference is for those guest with additional needs who might want to consider the suite. The suite has one low step up to the bedroom and the door is quite heavy to open (as it is a fire door as I expect per regulations) also the suite main door is also quite heavy to open. The bathroom is quite small and is directly of the lounge area. There is one step up to the bath with a handle on the wall. It's quite difficult to reach over for the controls. There are good bathroom quality products.

The suite is right next to reception and you can hear most of the activity. The hotel was very quite on our visit. We did wonder how this might be when busy!

The breakfast had a good selection of choice including salmon and haddock and was well presented.

All the staff were approachable and attentive and a credit to the hotel.

There are no facilities for swimming and use of a gym these are provided at a near by hotel,
we did feel perhaps given this and the noise from reception the regular price for the suite is perhaps quite high!

We would still recommended this hotel as a very nice place to stay!!

“Nice hotel”

I really wanted to like Langtry Manor. Positives are it is a nice old building, friendly staff, good breakfast, comfortable bed, nicely designed bedrooms and near the beach. Negatives are our room had some issues, for an upgraded room it was tiny. Bathroom had a Japanese bath (i.e. very small), low pressure shower and this weird shoe-box sink with a faulty tap that just wasn't big enough to avoid splashing water everywhere. It was also just a bit tired, the carpet was stained and and most things out of reach were dusty. Maybe we just got the tired room for being Groupon cheapskates but I can't say I was massively impressed.

I would just like to say what an amazing time my husband and i had when we stayed in the Gold Cup suite. The staff were more than helpful, service was brilliant and you couldn't fault the food in any way.
Very good value for money all round and i would not hesitate to recommend the Langtry Manor Hotel to anyone.
Thank you for looking after us so well.

“Even better than the first time we stayed”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 December 2011

We have stayed here before in the Lodge Annexe as we did this time. The room was a standard one but we thought it was excellent. The staff at Langtry Manor are so friendly and welcoming. We ate both nights and the standard of food first class (not cheap though). The history surrounding the hotel makes it even more special and we peeped into both the Kings Suite and Lily's room - Wow! I would stay here without hesitation and recommend it. Thank you.
