We have just returned from a weekend break, travelling with our teenage daughter and two friends. We visited Torquay as it was my birthday and my friends, so we were away for a weekend treat. The rooms are extremely clean, however my friend was in double room and she felt that the shower and toilet area was very small. This was very difficult for her as she does have health issues. Our room was a family room and was alot larger and higher, giving a feeling of more space. When we arrived Chris helped us with our cases and showed us to our room, he is a very friendly man and i feel tries very hard to oblige. We were of course celebrating our birthdays and sat in the conservatory on the night of arrival and had a birthday cake and glass of wine. At around 12 o clock Chris came down and chatted to us. He was very pleasant and we chatted away but were feeling tired from our journey. Suddenly his wife appeared and said that some people had to get up and cook breakfast the next morning. I felt that Chris was a little alarmed by her manner. At that point we retired to bed. On reflection of our whole stay and on previous comments i would agree that it is a very clean central base. The breakfast was lovely. The rooms i feel would benefit from alittle refurbishing. The waitresses are lovely young girls. Chris i feel tries very hard to a point that made my friend feel alittle awkward, but i thought he was just a nice person working hard in very difficult times. We didn`t meet his wife only the once and on that occasion i found her to be very rude. I think for people with young children who are in bed very early and lights out she would be fine. We are not party animals we just sat up for one evening enjoying a drink but were made to feel very uncomfortable. The security cameras are excellent and i didn`t have a problem with Chris appearing everytime we parked the car, my friend however found it very annoying and wasn`t pleased. She said that she felt she couldn`t relax. This i feel is an very good place to stay for couples wanting a quiet, secure get away and for young families it would be excellent. Not sure if it`s an ideal place if you have families with typical teenage children or older children that enjoy evenings out and a family natter on return. Will i return? Yes with my husband. Not with my 13 year old and i certainly would not return with my 21 year old and her boyfriend. My friend however stayed another night in Torquay but not at the Lindun. No, she and her partner booked a stay at the Grand Hotel. Never to return to the Lindun!!!!
