“First class Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

We arrived in the afternoon of Fri 27 Jan 2012 and stayed for a 3 nights Dinner Bed & Breakfast break, we were one of the first guests to book in following the hotels reopening after it had been closed all of January during which a continuation of refurbishment work was being carried out in the main part of the hotel, when we arrived the carpet fitters were just finishing off the laying of a new carpet in the main bar area, it could also be seen that all the main areas of hotel including the stairways had recently been re-carpeted to a very high standard.
Our room was in the main hotel building and overlooked the main entrance and the gardens, when we first entered it the sun was shining straight through the main window and the room was very warm even though it was very cold outside, we soon found that after the sun went off the window the room soon cooled down that's when we realised that one of the 2 radiators was not working, we contacted the reception and the maintenance man arrived straight away and told us that the system had been drained down and this particular radiator now needed bleeding which he did, after which it worked fine, there was also an electric radiator fitted on the wall that we were also able to use if we needed it.
Our room had a very comfortable bed, and was nicely decorated with a 2 seater sofa and ample cupboard and wardrobe space, along with a separate toilet/bath/shower room.
The hotel is in 2 parts the main building and another section that is referred to has the wing this is accessed by just a short walk along a carpeted corridor past the indoor pool,
We went for our evening meal at 6.30pm and was welcomed by Chris who showed us to our table we had a delicious 3 course meal from a varied menu, this was followed by coffee and mints in the lounge.
Arriving for Breakfast we were offered a choice of tea or coffee along with brown or white toast that was brought to our table ,we then went up to help ourselves from a large choice of food that would suit all tastes, with 4 or 5 cereals to choose from, plus porridge, including yogurt and fruit juice, and an assortment of fruit deserts, there was also a freshly cooked full English breakfast available to help ones self to,we could not fault the food or the staff who were most courteous, friendly and polite.
all in all we found the service second to non and very good value for money we would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Torquay, The hotel is only a short walk downhill to the harbour and main shopping area, in the opposite direction we discovered Meadfoot Beach which has free parking on the side of the road at this time of year if you did not want to walk there.

“3 Night Bed And Breakfast Stay.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

The Hotel was recommended to us. Very pleasant weekend stay, only one or two picky things to point out at this time.
We stayed in a superior Annexe room 34, last weekend of January 2012, rest of Hotel full at the time. Room very cold on entering, apparently probs. with central heating, air bubbles etc., on and off, however was supplied with convector heater aswell as rads, nice and warm after except for wc, and bit cool in bathroom. Clean and spacious room, overlooking tennis court and small side window overlooking lawn. .Comfortable king size bed, wc seperate from bath room. Excellant bath and shower room. Decent sizeT.V..
Basic, but clean deco, emulsion, and one wall over bed vinyl wallpaper, gloss finish to woodwork. One small 2 door wardrobe but plenty of room, plus the usual dressing table. Not very sound proof from footsteps & creaking floor boards etc. from above room. Very cold walk through corridoor to main hotel ,dinning areas etc. Apparently still undergoing finishing off refurbishing, hence the few picky probs. Nice gardens, grounds all around. Excellent food..breakfast and dinner. . Dinning room tastefully decorated and well laid out with very good waiter service. . All staff excellent. pleasant and helpful. Nice comfortable lounge and bar areas, with easy listening entertainment. Will recommend, and we will stay at this Hotel again, but hopfully would stay in main hotel not Annex room.

Room Tip: During winter try and book room in main Hotel not Annex.

Thank you for your review and your lovely comments about our Hotel. We are sorry you found your room and the corridor cold, we had only just opened after doing more renovations on the hotel in January and having done some work on the central heating, we had some air in the system which we have now rectified, however, we are always happy to supply extra heaters to bedrooms when they are required. We have addressed the issue of the cold corridor which leads from the annex to the main building, we have installed temporary double glazing and are in the process of obtaining quotes to do the whole corridor in UPVC double glazing. Some of our guests prefer to be in the annex as it can be quieter, especially during busy periods, than the main hotel. It would be lovely to welcome you back to the Lincombe Hall and look forward to seeing you again soon. Kind Regards Brett and Jo Powis

Thank you for your wonderful review. It is great to get such great feedback about both Christmas and New Year, and for so many guests to book already for next year hopefully indicates everyone had a great time. We also enjoyed having a full hotel for the festive period as it created such a lovely atmosphere.

Stayed for the 4 night christmas break. The staff were so friendly and helpful. They appeared to be happy to work over the christmas period. The room was immaculate, the lounges exceptionally comfortable- open log fire. The chefs need special praise. We honestly could find no faults.
