“First Rate Budget Hotel”

My wife and I spent the Easter weekend at this hotel. We were there as part of a coach party. The hotel was clean, tidy and well decorated . The meals were good, varied and well presented.

The staff and owners were well mannered, polite and helpfull. The dining room was airy and bright as was the rest of the hotel.

Our bedroom was roomy, spotless and clean, as was the en suite bathroom.

The only complaint I am able to make about this hotel is, the television had no remote control so we were unable to change channels, when asked the hotel owner managed to find us a remote control that worked.

In summing up I have to say that this is an excellent hotel, well worth its rates and very good value for money. Thank you for a very pleasant Easter.

Had a short break with family in rooms 14 & 15. The views over the bay and pool were superb. Rooms very comfortable but again, no remote control for TV. Food very good but could have done with a bit more of the cooked breakfasts, hash browns, mushrooms?
Customer service excellent. Our baby buggy lost it's wheel while we were in the town centre-we mentioned this in conversation when we got back and a tool box was produced and the wheel fixed! We were also given a free round of drinks because we had been woken up at 5 am the previous night by some noisy guests.
We would have liked to have used the pool but the weather was not good enough-it was covered over in any case.
Overall a lovely break in a hotel I would certainly stay at again bbut not recommended if you don't like climbing hills! Shedden Hill is very steep.

Can endorse other remarks re rooms, esp. 20-27 (we had room 22) - this was spacious, with not only lots of wardrobe space BUT plenty of coathangers! Room had wonderful view, very clean, food fresh each day and good choice, well cooked,, staff very pleasant and helpful, thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to all ages. Extremely good value for money.

“Totally agree with other reviewers”

There are lots of hotels in Torquay and we have stayed in quite a few of them over the years. We tried the Shedden Hall simply because it's the only budget one where I could find a review on tripadviser.

Took a previous reviewers advise and asked for a room in 20-26 overlooking the bay. Our room was a corner room with a very nice little sitting room attached with 2 lovely views of the bay. Very clean, very tidy, no TV remote control!! All the public rooms have terrific views over the bay and the bar area is absolutely stunning at night with all the lights twinkling round the coast.

The food is fresh and really good, would recommend the breakfast. The evening meal menu changed every night, again fresh. There is an outdoor pool and a terrace area in the garden, to cold this time of year but looks good. A very clean tidy hotel with quality staff.

They had entertainment on in the evening and we really enjoyed ourselves, the hotel is very good value for money, the tariff probably goes up in the summer but the staff are very friendly and make evey effort to keep you happy. Will stay again and would definitely recommend the Shedden.

Stayed at the Shedden Hall hotel over the Easter period. The hotel was a bit basic in decor but was very clean, the rooms were cleaned every day.The hotel is about 5 mins away from the town centre and the same distance to the two main Theatres in the town. The food in the Hotel is very good quality, great breakfasts and excellent evening meals, all freshly cooked. The hotel has a large car park and yes we would recommend it. There is also entertainment on 2 or 3 times a week.Staff were very freindly.
