“Satisfied every need”

This Hotel was perfect to our needs. My husband and I took my mother in law aged 86years, she loved it, so did we. We were made so very welcome from the minute we arrived. The bedrooms came up to our expectations, indulged in the soaps and hand creams, dressing gowns and of course tea making facilities. The breakfast was cooked to our requirements every morning, tasty tasty bacon and delicious mushrooms. You could of course go for the lighter breakfast of fresh fruit, cereals and juices or just go for it all! The location of this hotel is beautiful in Cockington, so quiet and peaceful yet still withing walking distance of amenities. Well done Lanscombe House!

Room Tip: Room 7 was so quiet.

“Pure class. Did not want to go home”

This is the perfect place to stay without the fear of rowdy drunken guests. The owners are first class and do all possible to make your stay a happy one in a very traditional setting with quality furniture and wonderful bedrooms with quality fittings and the finest bathroom you could ever ask for. The breakfast is just wonderful with a great choice of food and the full English breakfast is enough to set you off for the day with plenty of hot cofee or tea. The hotel is in the middle of Cockington Vilage, Cockington is a small vilage with thatched roofed houses that atracts pleasant middle aged sight seeing groups who come to see the beuty of this old world vilage. We loved this hotel and I would recomend it to couples who want quality without noisy people in the next room. This is not the hotel for groups of young people who want to drink and upset the clientel. .I could spend every weekend here and the comments in the guest book said it all. They all want to come back again. Barry & Susan Lawlor Wakefield Yorkshire

“Excellent hotel, food and hosts.”

Following a search on the English Riviera Tourist Board web site we found this gem of a place. However we found out from serching the hotel's own website that if we booked direct it would be cheaper. We rang up and it was considerably cheaper than what the tourist board website were charging. What we didn't realise was, although the website gives ayou a good idea, what a wonderful house the hotel is. It is beautifully clean and we could not fault it. It was lovely to have the use of a lounge and the loyalty bar was stocked with all sorts of alcohol. The breakfasts were superb and you could mix and match to whatever you felt like on the morning and they were always served with a smile. We stayed in the Empire bedroom which had an excellent view over the garden. The toiletries were top class and finding dressing gowns were provided as was a beach emergency kit - towels in a beach bag- we thought that the owners Leon and Paula had thought of everything. Even the tea and coffee making facilities were a cut above the usual with fresh milk and ground coffee kept in a communal fridge at the top of the beautiful staircase. The hosts always had a recommendation of somewhere to visit if we were undeciced and we used their recommendation on more than one occasion - and it wasn't just the local pub who served excellent food on an evening quite literally 100 yards down the road. The location was first class if you want peace and quiet just as we did and the walk down to the sea front through the country park helped to burn off all the calories we had consumed during the wonderful breakfasts. I can't think of anything I did not like about the hotel. If we ever stray down to the Torbay area again there would only be one place we would stay - Lansombe House Hotel. Thank you Leon and Paula for a wonderful stay in your beautiful home.

“Perfect!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 August 2011

We arrived here on our travels from The Savoy Hotel in London, i must say, i felt the same ambience as the savoy, the rooms were decorated similar with that similar feel, i even had a full length mirror, which i didnt have at The Savoy, i even had two butlers instead of one as the owners names are Mr. and Mrs. Butler! The breakfast was wonderfull. I would highly recommend visiting Cockington Village and definately staying at this establishment, i hope to come back one day, i nearly booked a hotel in the nearby main town, so glad i didnt.

Room Tip: Just pay for the best room, they are all reasonable

“Lovely hotel, beautiful location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 August 2011

We stayed for two nights at Lanscombe House and have nothing negative to say about it. The room was lovely and spacious, spotlessly clean and very comfortable with lovely views over the garden. The breakfast was fantastic. We booked there as we have family in the area and would not hesitate to book again.
