I have just spent 5 days at this hotel with Travelstyle and had a very good time. Nigel and Maxine who own the hotel were excellent nothing was too much trouble. I have walking difficulties and stayed in a ground floor bedroom which was excellent. The food was very good and all the staff were very friendly. I will certainly be going back.

Our party of nine hikers enjoyed our week with Nigel & Maxine at the Richwood, the food at mealtimes was delicious, packed lunches no problem.
Nigel, with Josh, opened the bar anytime and were the perfect hosts.Good luck for the future, John, Wilf, Pete,Les & all the gang.

The hotel is now run by new owners Nigel & Maxine. Nigel was very welcoming, but the lack of experience of the new owners was evident in some of the organisational aspects (for instance during serving of meals).

Overall we had a reasonably good experience.

The dining room/lounge areas were very pleasantly decorated.

Our room was acceptable although a little on the small size & rather an odd shape (as a consequence of the originally larger room being divided into two). Unfortunately the old metal-framed window would not completely close (not ideal during cooler times !).

Meals were of reasonable quality, but the choice was very limited & portion sizes were not the largest.

Entertainment was provided on two of the six evenings of our stay.

To summarise, bearing in mind the amount we paid, we could not complain & we had an enjoyable stay.

Having visited Torquay and nearby Paington and Brixham over the last 10 years, The Richwood Hotel is by far the friendliest, value for money hotel that I have come across.

The rooms were of a high standard,all extremely comfortable, en-suite and well maintained. The hotel consists of a large guest lounge, pleasant dining area and a traditional tavern style bar, as well as a great heated outdoor pool and sun deck area.

The food here was great,with full english breakfasts and traditional home-cooked style food in the evening.
I found my stay to be excellent value, as well as welcomming;made so by the friendly live-in proprieters Carol and Brian who really have done an excellent job in refurbishing the hotel in the last year.

The hotel is also only a stones throw from the bustling town centre and gorgeous beaches.

All in all, my stay here was outstanding,nothing was too much trouble and I found my every need catered for.

For anyone else looking to stay in Devons beautiful English Riveria, I thouroughly recommend staying at The Richwood Hotel.
