Hotel Cimon isn't a hotel so much as a bed and breakfast guest house. We booked the only remaining double, but found it was in fact a family room with a double bed, bunk beds and two ensuite showers which was a bit off putting. The plumbing is also very strange with large bore central heating pipes to the upstairs room running along the ceiling cornice. The newly decorated room is therefore let down by the rather shambolic conversion from large Victorian home to guest house. If you want conventional, slick hotel ambience, this won't fly your kite or float your boat. Having said that the hotel owners and staff are very friendly and helpful and our room was clean and quite well appointed.
The breakfasts were excellent, better than most 4 star hotels. The full English came with proper fried bread, fresh mushrooms and vine tomatoes. The continental breakfast was even better with fresh fruit salad -strawberries, raspberries, pineapple and blueberries. For those with a very sweet tooth, there was a lovely fruit tart.
The hotel is very well placed being near to the town centre, but if you are more comfortable in conventional hotels you would be better off in a Premier Inn or a pub chain. Hotel Cimon is overpriced for what was really a guest house.
