“Home From Home”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 January 2012

I booked a 3-day break at Mount Edgcombe as a New Year getaway for my partner and I. South Devon is a region that we hold dear, and we are very familiar with the greater area. On searching online to book with a guest house, I chanced across Mount Edgcombe. It's in a favourable location, within a short distance of the sea front and most local amenities. In addition, I found their prices to be very favourable. I made our booking, which was promptly and courteously dealt with.
We were made to feel welcome at all times, whilst our privacy was always respected. Pam and David are very amiable hosts who are always willing to assist, or even just engage in small talk. The room was well appointed for our stay, featuring an en suite shower-W.C., a large wardrobe, mini-fridge, hot drinks servery, t.v., and one of the most comfortable beds I have slept on in quite some time! The inclusive breakfast selection is always generous, and never spartan or excessive.
While our stay in Devon was short, it was nonetheless made more comfortable by having Mount Edgcombe as our home away from home.
My partner and I commend both the hotel and it's landlords and staff. We will be returning at some point in the near future.

“A wonderfully friendly place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 December 2011

We have now stayed twice and the proprietors couldn't be more welcoming. The rooms are excellent and the meals, breakfasts and evenings, are delicious with generous helpings.

Room Tip: We stayed both times in Room two which is spacious and comfortable

“Warm and friendly welcome, lovely hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 November 2011

We went to Mount Edgcombe Hotel for a 5-night break half-board this month November. As soon as we arrived we had a warm welcome from Pam and David and throughout our stay they made us feel at home. Our room was great, plenty of room and really clean with a lovely ensuite, a power shower which makes all the difference. Our room was at the side of the hotel and on the ground floor which is very welcome if you have disabilities or special needs. The meals were delicious, there was a varied choice for breakfast, giving you lots to choose from. The evening meals were home cooked by Pam, always very tasty, piping hot and enough to choose from with starter, main course, sweet and coffee and mints. I must admit my partner and myself felt quite bloated on occasions but in a nice way. We had a great time, we even had a couple come to dinner one night. They live in Devon and Pam and David said they could come for a meal and just to let them know what they wanted the day before. They enjoyed the meal very much too and the friendliness. We couldn't find fault with any part of our stay and we would recommend this hotel to others, Thanks for a lovely stay Pam and David and look forward to staying again in the future. Jenny and Mike.

Room Tip: Rooms on the south side are quieter

“Five star service with a smile!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 November 2011

Just returned from a lovely, relaxing weekend at this immaculate B&B. After a long drive, the warm welcome from David and his kind offer of a cuppa and slice of cake was a nice touch. Our room (No 7 on the 1st Floor) was ideal for my mom and I. It had comfortable beds and everything was spotlessly clean. We decided to dine in on the first night and were not disappointed. We enjoyed an absolutely delicious home cooked dinner (Pam is an excellent chef) and promptly decided not to bother going out on the second night! The food was served piping hot and always with a smile. Breakfasts were top notch too If we had been looking for faults, we could not have found one with any aspect of our stay and would definitely recommend to others. The free wi-fi was handy and it was good to be able to borrow a dvd or a book from the well stocked library in the lounge. Thanks for a great weekend Pam and David. Hope to see you again. June and Doris.

Room Tip: We looked at several rooms and there wasn't a bad one. All the same excellent standard.

“Wonderful Birthday Break”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 November 2011

We arrived here after a horrendous journey of 8 hours driving and delays due to the awful M5 accident. We were greeted warmly with the offer of tea and cake. Throughout our stay Mr and Mrs Cole made us feel at home and part of the family. The room we had was enormous and beautifully decorated and very comfortable. Service was excellent throughout. The food was excellent and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We would recommend this hotel to anyone and we are definitely considering a return visit in the future.

Room Tip: Double room has a big bed and there are doubles and twins on groud flooor if you need to avoid too m...
