My husband and I wanted a little UK half term break and decided on Torquay. After reading the good reviews on here I booked at The Palms. I went to their own website where I got a bargain on one night's free stay for the five nights I bookrf, meaning the average cost went down to around £39 per night - cheaper than the Travelodge but with a better location and breakfast!
The hotel was easy to find and is very close to Torquay seafront. It's also close to bars, restaurants and the town centre (lots of shopping!). However, I found it incredibly quiet at night, which was great as I am a light sleeper.
The owners were wonderful and very friendly. At breakfast you can choose from cereals, as much toast as you like, fruit, yoghurt, fresh tea and coffee, and a cooked breakfast which was quick and exactly as we wanted.
Parking would have been difficult in the peak season, but we had no problems at all and could park outside every day with no hassle.
Our room was very cosy with lots of extras - Free Wifi throughout, a fridge (handy for my husband's beer!), a Digital TV with Freeview, good ventilation from three opening windows (unlike Travelodge), tea/coffee facilties, plenty of storage space, a hairdryer and ensuite. Everything was always immaculately clean and the bed was very comfy - I've never slept so well in a hotel bed before. The shower was large and powerful.
All in all a great stay - we would definately come back, and would definately recommend.
