“Wonderful stay - would highly recommend”

My husband and I wanted a little UK half term break and decided on Torquay. After reading the good reviews on here I booked at The Palms. I went to their own website where I got a bargain on one night's free stay for the five nights I bookrf, meaning the average cost went down to around £39 per night - cheaper than the Travelodge but with a better location and breakfast!
The hotel was easy to find and is very close to Torquay seafront. It's also close to bars, restaurants and the town centre (lots of shopping!). However, I found it incredibly quiet at night, which was great as I am a light sleeper.
The owners were wonderful and very friendly. At breakfast you can choose from cereals, as much toast as you like, fruit, yoghurt, fresh tea and coffee, and a cooked breakfast which was quick and exactly as we wanted.
Parking would have been difficult in the peak season, but we had no problems at all and could park outside every day with no hassle.
Our room was very cosy with lots of extras - Free Wifi throughout, a fridge (handy for my husband's beer!), a Digital TV with Freeview, good ventilation from three opening windows (unlike Travelodge), tea/coffee facilties, plenty of storage space, a hairdryer and ensuite. Everything was always immaculately clean and the bed was very comfy - I've never slept so well in a hotel bed before. The shower was large and powerful.
All in all a great stay - we would definately come back, and would definately recommend.

My husband and i stayed at The Palms Hotel for my 30th Birthday weekend. The parking was a bit tight but we were told of another car park just up the road if it was needed. We had travelled for over 5 hours. We were welcomed in and showed to our room. The room was clean with a shower room and toilet. T.V with built in DVD player, we could choose from a wide selection of DVD's downstairs with a small deposit. The bedding and towels were clean and fresh.
Everything was there that we needed, but the room was a little dated and you had to slide to the bottom of the bed to get out as it was tightly squeezed into a small space with walls either side!!
We went for a walk into town and was quite surprised it took only five minutes until you were in the centre.
The breakfast was fantastic with a great selection. I am veggie and was catered for very well with veggie sausages.
Overall I would recommend staying here and would stay again.

However I see you have had problems with the size of the rooms this unfortunately is out of our control the building was built in 1907 and we do our best with what we have to work with. If you had required a larger room then you should have asked whilst staying at The Palms Hotel and we would have tried our very best to accommodate your needs.

“A great guest house run by great people!”

Myself, my wife and 2 young children stayed here for 3 nights in August and were very pleased. We originally booked for the Arden Court (just up the road) but they suddenly 'went out of business' and left with no phone call to us or anyone who booked with them. Anyway, The Palms saved our bacon (which incidentally is a very nice part of the full English). Judith and Graham looked after our every need and the family room was just excellent. The whole place was very clean and homely and the location is perfect for the town centre (shops, places to eat etc). So, thank you Palms for a very enjoyable stay and we will definately be back!
