“Our week away.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 September 2011

We have just spent a week at the Albaston. First of all I would like to thank Joe and Heather for the wonderful welcome they gave us,and the overall experience of our stay.
The Albaston is a lovely family run hotel, it is very comfortable, friendly and just a short walk from the town centre. The food is of high quality, and the Bar offers a meeting place for the residants to chill and mingle.
Hope to see you again, JOHN and DEBBIE.

“Very good small hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 August 2011

We booked directly with the owner Heather Darwish for a family room for 3 nights. On arrival greeted by Heather and our room was on top floor. Good size and clean room, all bed linen colourful. Ensuite Shower room/WC and WHB in bedroom.
All was OK, the shower had good H/W. Tea and coffee facility in bedroom and good small TV with freeview.
Breakfast was good and we had the full English breakfast.
We had few drinks from the bar in the evening and a very good time chatting with the owners in the TV lounge.
Parking is at the front, we could not find a space on the first day but the rest of our stay we parked within the hotel.
Overall very good stay and would stay again when visiting Torquay.

“Enjoyed it and would like to return”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 August 2011

We had read the reviews on tripadvisor before we went and it helped us to decide whether to go or not. It was our first spontaneous trip; we booked it two days before we went and glad we did so.
We were greeted by Heather Darwish who owns the hotel, along with her husband, Joe. She was very pleasant to have around, easy to talk to, and gave us advice on good places to go that suited our budget which was additionally helpful. This helped to make our stay far more welcoming.
The rooms are clean, but our room (number 8 on the first floor) had a strange smell on the first night. We stayed for three nights and we only smelt it on the first night. The smell had either gone or we had gotten used to it. The room was otherwise clean and space was average, it wasn't too big or too small. Heather, a joint owner, cleaned our room everyday and made our beds which was a delightful surprise.
We had breakfast each morning which was very tasty. We could have any drink we wanted from tea to milk to orange juice along with cereal, toast and if we wanted, a cooked meal. To my delight, it was all home cooked straight away and always tasted delicious. We also decided to additionally have dinner here for the first two nights and dine out on the final evening and there were two choices for each course. It was all delicious and timed well to our eating suitability.
The location is nice. It's on a main road but it is never too busy. It is about a five minute drive / twenty minute walk to the harbour which has a fabulous scenery. There are also beaches further down if you follow the coast, at Torquay, then Paignton, then Babbacombe, both marvellous. There are many eateries close by, and a Chinese restaurant next door which is useful.
Overall, my stay was quite good and I would like to return next year.

Room Tip: Try to stay on the ground floor as there is no lift.

“very friendly clean and tidy”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 August 2011

We stayed in this hotel because of the location, which is close to other friends we have in the area. However the contact on the phone to book the room, the welcome and the general clean and tidy appearance were well worth the £110 for 2 nights we paid. The hotel has a bar and a nice lounge area for guests to use, and there is a lot to do in the local area within a very short walk. The bedroom was clean and tidy and the beds very comfortable. I possibly would have liked a bigger bathroom but that is just being really picky as it was functional and the shower was hot. The breakfast was nice. Overall a very pleasant experience and I would definately use this hotel again.

“A Warm Welcome”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 June 2011

A warm welcome awaits you from Heather and Joe at the Albaston House Hotel. It is very clean and tidy and nothing is too much trouble for them. Centrally situated between Torquay centre/harbour and Babbacombe. Breakfasts are first class and set you up for the day ahead. As our short stay was so enjoyable, we have no hesitation in recommending this hotel.
