“Indoor Bowls Week.”

This was our third stay at the Toorak and overall we were pleased with it.
There were however one or two specific points on which we were less than happy.
Whilst the variety and quality of food in the restaurant was very good we did feel that the service was at times very slow. Staff were courteous but, once the first and second courses had been served we did feel somewhat neglected. Overall --- the meal took far too long.
The second point concerns the closing time for the bars and games room. Surely, in 2012 it is not appropriate to close all the bars and close down the games room at 11pm. Might it not be possible ---- somewhere in the hotel complex, to have a designated bar open until later? Why not keep the games room, with bar , open until say midnight?

“New Year break”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

We have been to the Victoria twice & the Toorak once. We have enjoyed all of our visits so far. Although we must mention that the food at the Victoria this last New Year was not as good as previous times. The service in the restaurant was first class but the food did not meet our particular needs. We are fussy with regard to our healthy eating habits-we like plenty of salad & fish without batter and meals with plenty of fresh vegetables. Bananas and plain yogurt for breakfast-we did get a certain amount of what we wanted but had to continue to ask for such foods rather than have it available. We have not been made aware of the World Heritage Sites? Just as a point the reception staff were not as helpful on our last visit to the Victoria. The swmming pool showers need to be repaired and updated.

Room Tip: 3rd floor rooms in the Victoria overlooking the car park-not good for sleeping on a windy night

“Winter Break”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

We returned to the Toorak for a weekend break taking advantage of a special offer deal. The terrace room was excellent, large and clean. The facilities at TLH are second to none and due to the inclement weather we took full advantage of them. The staff were efficient and friendly whilst the food was good with a reasonable amount of choice.
The only minor criticisms we had was the complementary cream teas had to be taken on the day of arrival (in our case one hour after we checked in) and at breakfast there was a short wait for more bacon to arrive.
Overall We would highly recommend the Toorak and have done so to our friends.

Room Tip: The terrace rooms are excellent.

“far too cold”

we have stayed at the "toorak"many times in the past and have found it comfortable, friendly with great facilities and lovely food. This time however it was a particularly cold week and the hotel guests suffered with cold rooms and a freezing cold restaurant"we all ate with our coats on"We felt this was worthy of a comment at reception and was confronted by an argumentative young lady who insisted that everyone else was complaining of the heat( i recorded a temperature at our table of 14 degreesC)The evening meal was generous with a very good selection of starters, mains and desserts, the breakfast is bog standard "english"and usually cold

On the weekend of your visit we did have a problem with our boilers ( now resolved) which was also the coldest weekend of the year. I am sorry that you were affected as you were and I hope you will give us another try if you are back in Torquay
