“ideally located with accomodation of a high standard.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 August 2010

Beautiful, idyllic area of the South Hams. Stayed in an appartment for 2 weeks, with everything you need to make your stay enjoyable. Exceptionally clean, home comforts, proper beds, fully equipped kitchen.etc.. swimming pool for guests, private terrace with bbq, very private.
Surrounded by woodland and greenery with spectacular scenic views and of the Plymouth Sound. Coastal walks from your doorstep and a beach at the bottom of the lodge. The tranquility and peace just makes it sheer heaven.
We were about 5miles from Plymouth. Barbican and the Hoe made an enjoyable day out. We had many a daytrip out to Paignton, Salcombe,Buckfast Abbey etc . all within easy reach. Major supermarkets near by for food etc.
Highly recommended.First time we had been and will go back again.
The owners make you feel really welcome along with the goats and the chickens.!! Would not hesitate in recommending, especially if you like a quiet, tranquil, relaxing holiday. A*** It is everything it advertised in the brochure and website.

“5 star family holiday”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 August 2010

We have just returned from a fantastic week staying at the Whidbey apartment. We found the accomodation to be superb, very well equipped with dishwasher, washing machine, gas bbq, dvd/ freeview, wifi, heated towel rail, books, games, etc It was spotlessly clean and there were fresh flowers & wine to welcome us on our arrival.
The beach is great for kids - very close by & slopes gently so plenty of safe bathing, with great rockpools emerging as the tide goes out. There are numerous attractions nearby and you are a short drive away from supermarkets & take aways. The staff were friendly and when we had a problem with the tv it was replaced very promptly.
We liked this site because it is quiet, its quite small and there is no pub or club so its not for everyone. It was in the ideal position for us - beach & coastal walks on site, but also near to Plymouth & the attractions of South Devon.

“very peaceful and safe site for children”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 August 2010

We stayed in a caravan at Bovisand Lodge Estate which is run by a very friendly and helpful family. Our 8 year old and 2 year old had a wonderful time. The caravan was spotlessly clean - they must check each and every utensil and plate prior to new occupants it was that spotless. The beds were not very comfy but I have come to expect that in a caravan, stacks of hot water from a really powerful shower made up for it. The site is also immaculate with lots of places to leave your rubbish and recycling which was collected daily. Also lots of space for ball games and very safe for children as the car park is at the top of the site. It is a small site with alot of the caravans being privately owned, and very peaceful (no club house) just the noise of the stream trickling by at night which is how we like it. The indoor swimming pool is clean and also peaceful (no ball games or inflatables allowed). The rescued battery chickens were great fun and the girls enjoyed feeding them bits of bread. The site is really close to the beach just a five minute flat walk, there is also a beach shop and cafe just up the hill. The beach is very safe for young children with no surf - the rockpools are fab. Beware for kids who do not like dogs - this beach seems to allow dogs all year round. There are some lovely walks along the coastal path - we walked across the fields to Dylan Thomas and stopped for ice cream in local shop and returned via the coastal path , Staddon Heights where the Jenny Cliff cafe does great food and Heycombe to the Eddystone Inn ( a rather run down pub but good view), none of these walks were that far about an hour each way, but with a 2 year old it was far enough. Wembury is a good day out too with a super National Trust cafe and marine centre for the kids - also more surf for those who like it. Plenty of supermarkets, takeaways etc nearby - we favoured Saffron Indian takeaway and the chippie next door.
Our friends were staying in one of the Bovisand Lodge apartments and they were also spotless and very comfortable and would have been our choice but sadly not suitable for under fives - possibly due to the steep steps or noise problems of little ones?
We would definately return here again.
