Pleasant B&B near the older part of town. The guest room was fine. Bathroom was very small. Breakfast was good. The University of Plymouth is a 15 minute walk from the B&B.

stayed for one night for a concert at Pavillions. It is situated within easy reach of the venue, city centre and the Hoe.
Nice welcome, clean and tidy well decorated room (no easy feat considering they were in middle of external decorating!).
Nice breakfast and able to accomodate the wifes Coeiliac requests despite us forgetting to forewarn them, only wish some of the bigger more expensive places could do the same!!
Parking permit provided £2.00
All in all would be happy to recommend and will look to stay again for daughters graduation.
This was my third trip to the Jewell, and i have only ever had really postive experiences. The owner and his housekeeper are incredibly friendly and helpful, and really go out of their way to ensure you are confortable.
Breakfast is YUMMY! and if anything, my only complaint is there is too much to each. I must put on a stone every time i stay.
The rooms are always spotless, warm and spacious, and the housekeeping staff pop in everyday to make the bed and top up loo roll, tea coffee etc. The beds are lovely and comfortable and plenty of bedding. The stairs and landings are really clean and well kept.
I agree the stairs could be a problem if you are elderly, but I know from experience that the staff will rearrange rooms to accomodate you on ground floor / first floor if you give advance notice.
All in all, i think this is a fantastic hotel, in a brilliant location and really well managed.
Just stayed at the Jewell for 4 nights. We were greeted by Keith, the owner, who was extremely warm and welcoming. The room was a good size, no view to speak of, but never mind. For £50 per night for a double it was really good value for money. The B & B is a step above basic, it is comfortable but if you are expecting luxury you will be disappointed. Breakfast is pretty standard, but there was real coffee, tea and sugar in the rooms (none of that weak packet stuff). The place could probably use a bit of updating, and we would have been happy to pay £60-70 per night really for better breakfast and nicer bedding.
Location is great, only a few minutes to the Hoe, Barbican, city centre, bit of a walk to the station or the Cremyll Ferry if you want to go to Mount Edgcumbe (go if the weather is nice, it's so lovely).
I would stay here again in a heartbeat. The owners really made our stay special, even their dog Holly was amazing!
From the moment we arrived till we left, we were treated by very friendly helpful staff, giving invaluable advice. BB was in a great location, quiet at night but too far to walk to City Centre for a resturant. Our room was very clean and comfortable and the breakfast lasted us all day!
Would definitely stay again when in the area.
