“Great location, lovely breakfast and super friendly folk”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 October 2010

My daughter and I were visiting Plymouth to attend an open day at the University and decided to stay at the Hotspur mainly because of location and recommendation from Trip Advisor reviews. I am glad we did because the service was excellent, the location perfect for the University, town centre and other amenities, parking was available at £2 per day and the staff were extremely friendly. The owner particularly gave us lots of advice on how to get to places and other useful tips. My daughter loved Plymouth and will be back in September 2011 for University and I will be back at the Hotspur to visit her.

“Home from Home comfort!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 October 2010

My husband and I came at the beginning of September to deliver our son to Uni! Were met by an extremely friendly and helpful lady who showed us our room. Very nice and clean, extremely comfortable bed.I am a fussy person about ensuites and this one, although not large definately passed the cleanliness test easily! We were told about how son could come to join us for breakfast for a small fee,as long as we advised the night before. Breakfast VERY nice. This hotel could not be better placed for Uni and town.Have already used again for Hubbie and will definately be back as it feels like visiting family!

“Average!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 September 2010

Unfortunately the B&B we normally stay at was fully booked, so after seeing the reviews on here decided to book this one. Initially met by a gentleman, who did not introduce himself, then shown to the room, Room was clean and well maintained, ensuite contained shower, toilet and hand basin, additionally handwash, shampoo and conditioner dispensers available but no shower gel. The bed was very soft, too soft!
In the morning we went down to breakfast and met the same man (I suspect the owner) to find orange juice already in glasses and milk in a jug on the table (not sure how long they had been there) no other juice available. On the plus side there was a good selection of breakfast cereals. The man asked what cooked breakfast we would like, all of us opted for the full english (bacon, fried egg, sausage, tomato and half a plate of baked beans). However, it seems they can only do 2 at a time! Which considering there was 4 of us on the table was a little odd! The toast came with the second set of breakfast, which was cold and not helpful for the 2 of us who had eaten ours already. Another group of 3 had come in after us and had to wait at least 1/2 hour before even being asked what they wanted. Overall orgainisation at breakfast is very poor and would not stay here again.

“Spotless throughout, friendly owners, great breakfast”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 September 2010

This is a very nice guest house near to the city centre and station. We were very well received and this friendliness endured throughout our stay.
The guest house was spotless and well appointed.
Breakfast great. A very good place to stay.

Do you want a warm welcome, superb cleanliness, immaculate decor, high quality linens, comfy beds, well equipped rooms, and of course an excellent- cooked for you , as you wish- breakfast in your choice of B&B? Then look no further, the Hotspur fits the bill totally. Thanks from Liz and George.
