We have been holidaying at Lynton for a number of years, having stayed at two B & Bs during that time. We decided to change our B & B as the previous owners had sold it. Having looked at Southcliffe's web site and read their blog we felt that Southcliffe would be very suitable.
We were not disappointed! We received a warm and very friendly welcome from Andy, and a cup of tea and a slice of delicious home-made ginger cake.
Our room was spotlessly clean and comfortable and everything we needed was at hand, including extras of a daily mint chocolate and a bottle of spring water. The breakfast was delicious, ably cooked by Andy and served by Sue. There was a wide choice which could be adapted to your own wishes. Sue makes her own marmalade and granola which are both superb. On the reverse side of the menu was a list of the sources of the various components of the breakfast, most of them as local as possible.
Sue and Andy are always ready to suggest walks or places to visit - they even have a few typed out for visitors to use. They enjoy walking themselves and occasionally try out new ones which may be of interest to guests.
All in all, we really enjoyed our stay at Southcliffe and would not hesitate to recommend it. Needless to say we fully intend to return.
