“Only thing missing is a pool!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 January 2012

I try and stay in hotels with a gym to give me something to do in an evening. This hotel's gym is great, with a room full of proper heavy free weight. However, there is no pool, but there seems to be everything else. People are friendly and the the hotel is clean. As a stop over I'd stay again if I'm in the area. Nice and quiet.

“Rooms are comfortable but feel a bit tired”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 December 2011 via mobile

The rooms are certainly comfy, but they are in need of some love. The TV in my room made an annoying humming noise whenever the telly was on. The food in the hotel is a decent price, but isn't great quality.

Overall, it was a decent stay but overpriced.

“A Hotel which delivers on so many levels”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 October 2011

I truly don't know where to start on this review. We have stayed at the hotel on and off now for most of the summer (an enforced stay due to having to be on hand for family reasons) and to be honest with you cannot recommend it highly enough. It simply delivers on so many different levels, especially during a period of our lives when it could be a total disaster if some of the other reviews had proved to be true.
Accommodation: Could at first glance be considered basic, but I don't feel it is. The beds are much larger than anywhere else we have found, extremely comfortable and clean. Pillows and bedding the same, along with the bedroom soft-furnishings. The ensuite bathroom contains a shower with superb water-pressure, and the bath is non-slip, which gives added confidence when we are perhaps not as agile as we would like to be. Complimentary shower gel and soap again are of the highest quality and because they are accessible through thoughfully located dispensers they are very easy to access (a personal hate of mine, trying to fiddle with small containers with wet hands). Milk because it is offered fresh and located in small fridges in the room, is a real bonus. I personally hate UHT sachets.
Food: Breakfast is an experience to be savoured and enjoyed and I would highly recommend booking your room to include it. We have found that sometimes when we arrive late, there is not much of a choice when there are large parties - but that said the staff recognise this and are more than happy to cook fresh ingredients to order and accommodate our tastes - this has been anticipated for us and offered, we have not ever had to request. The staff service at breakfast are a joy to watch as they deliver seemlessly teas, coffees and other requirements, and there is always a lovely air of banter and service around.
The menu available at other times, is exhaustive and we have found that the staff consider our needs to vary our diet, often before we do! I would highly recommend Ripleys - a superb atmosphere every time we have eaten and in fact when staying at the hotel we choose to eat there as the value for money, along with perfectly presented ingredients are all we could wish for. The waiting staff are very professional, the way the whole restaurant is presented is very inviting and there are some quite corners where you can be seated and just enjoy the ambience.
Some of the other perks for us have been the easy access to the beauty salon, the sports bar for snacks and nibbles, change of scenery etc., and the fitness suite is very well maintained. I intend also to start playing golf again in the near future, and the professional staff are very welcoming and full of advice as to where we start.
So all in all, I would recommend this hotel on very many levels, the business suites are also something I intend to use in the future.
I also notice that one of the reviewers comment that the owners of cash-strapped. I think the whole of Cullompton and the immediate area is suffering greatly due to the economic environment and the arrival of Tescos did not help. I observe that cash is spent wisely at the hotel - keeping up standards and staffing levels, and principally investing in their business. I don't think anybody can be criticised for that - especially as the prices for accommodation are very competitive.

Room Tip: Ring the hotel directly if you need accommodation, as booking agencies and their own website often s...

“Friendly family run hotel with guest interests not the corporation”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 September 2011

I stayed in this hotel for business for 2 nights over a weekend. The staff were very welcoming and helpful with any requests.
As I was working unsocial hours for convenience I ate at Ripleys restaurant, with hesitation initially following the previous review. All 3 meals were good portion sizes and well presented. The fillet of beef was delicious and cooked as I requested, with a very tasty celeriac slaw. I decided to try the Sunday lunch offer of 2 courses for £10.75. The beef was cooked beautifully and served with large portions of veg, excellent value for money.
I agree that the hotel is not in a great location for people wanting the party scene, but for early morning starts this hotel is quiet and has a very relaxed atmosphere.
