“No problems for us”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 August 2011

Had a single and a twin room for two nights for a family wedding nearby. Friendly place, quiet in the day, friendly staff and decent beer. There was a staff 50th on the Saturday night which made us expect noise when we returned around 1.00AM Sunday, but it was over when we returned from our do. Next morning there were no signs of it, all cleared up and away. Someone had been very busy. Good breakfast, plenty of choice, and plenty of it. Only reason not an excellent review is the ash trays all over outside needed emptying, but I guess that's better than all over the floor! I have a thing about cigarette smoke. Yeah, we'd come back if we were in the area, but I don't expect we will ever be so. Bus stop outside into & back from Exeter town centre, ten minutes journey

“Convenient stopover on the way to Cornwall”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 July 2007

The hotel is close to motorway junction just off the main road into Exeter.
The bedroom we had was a twin on the ground floor which was quite small but nevertheless clean and tidy. The corridor to the room is narrow so beware if you have special needs such as using a walking frame. Step up from lounge area.
The staff are very helpful.
The restaurant has a good menu - no problems serving our choice.
Enjoyed our breakfast.

“Friendly and quaint... but the worst bed ever!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 October 2006

This was a really nice, quaint, friendly little hotel and it was perfect for what we needed -- a one night stay over on our way to someplace else. Right off the bat I have to mention it was the absolute worst bed I have ever slept in. Hands down. So hard and uncomfortable. I could feel the springs in the mattress poking me all night.

The bar that is attached is a nice place to have a drink and the restaurant was pretty packed. It’s a little far from the High St and Quay area but there is a bus that picks up right across the street. Overall it was a nice, inexpensive hotel but I could not imagine sleeping more than one night in that bed.

  • Liked — Very friendly staff, near transporation, good food
  • Disliked — the bed was very uncomfortable, a little far from the city center
